Romantic Bridal Inspiration with Lucy Can’t Dance in a forest bath tub

Today’s styled wedding shoot is a first, as it features a bath tub in the middle of a forest! I love the styling here, the autumnal feel but also the magical feel of it ending with a milky bath. It features the dresses designed by Lucy Can’t Dance who we featured earlier this year, and the photography of Megan Elle.  Lucy describes the shoot for us:

The Idea

“I’ve always loved the idea of a bath shoot. I’m in love with old fashion freestanding baths and how romantic they look. We searched for a local wedding venue with a luxurious bathroom but had no luck finding the exact look we were after. We then found the most amazing freestanding bath with beautiful gold feet for sale. This completely adapted our original idea, which ended up being so much better.

We wanted to place the bath in the middle of an overgrown forest with lots of ivy vines.  I knew I wanted a model with pastel coloured hair to add some another splash of colour to the greenery. In the end we brought a beautiful pastel pink wig, which worked perfectly with Tillie’s beautiful face. We filled the bath with water and milk to turn the liquid a beautiful creamy colour. We added floating flowers that matched the bouquet and autumn leaves. The results are breath-taking. Megan’s photography style is so beautiful. Her editing and tones make the overgrown garden look like a fairy tale.”

The Styling

“We all helped out with the styling of the shoot. We decided to have two looks for the day; a ‘Dry’ look and a ‘Wet’ look.

For the ‘Dry’ look we filled the bath with Ivy leaves and shot the photos next to an overgrown tree. We took advantage of the beautiful autumn coloured leaves which made a stunning backdrop. We didn’t overload the scene with props as the foliage was perfect for what was needed.

For the ‘Wet’ look we moved the bathtub into a very overgrown woodland area. We added candles and lanterns to add some colour and romance to the scene. We wanted the area to look peaceful and natural which the contrast of the big white bathtub.”

The Dresses

“I used some pieces from my brand new collection, which is being released early 2018. I decided to use a dress and two piece with tones of grey which would work well together.

We used our ‘Gold Rush’ dress for the first look. This dress is made from stunning heavy beaded lace. The dress has a low back with lots of beautiful silk ivory buttons. The dress slip is a beautiful dark grey colour which enhances the lace detail.

We used our ‘Rebel Rebel’ lace top and light grey ‘Soul Love’ tulle skirt for the second look. I love the vine edging on our lace top, which worked so well with the forest foliage.

We used our personalised Lucy Can’t Dance leather jacket for some of the shoot. The beautiful blue leather jacket was hand painted by the amazing Lucky Sew & Sew.”

The Photography

“Our photographer for the day was Megan Elle Photography. Megan is a dream to work with. Her style is dreamy, vivid and unique. She could make a pile of rubbish look beautiful. Megan used ladders to photograph the bath from above and got attacked by so many bushes along the way.”

The Flowers

The Flower Arranger made the stunning bouquet for the shoot. The colour combination of Red, orange and yellow flowers worked beautifully with the scenery. Their bouquets are always so big and colourful which really make them stand out. We cut some matching flowers to go into the bath. They looked so vivid amongst the creamy coloured water.”

The Hair

The hair stylist for the shoot was Emma Tulip. She had an amazing time working with the beautiful long pink wig.She describes,

“So the first look was inspired by the idea of a mermaid (because of the tub) so I created a loose fishtail braid incorporating the flowers from the woodland theme. The second look was more woodland imp with loose curls and braids for softer feel”

The Makeup

The makeup artist was Claire Marie Makeup. I loved Claire’s makeup for this shoot. The bolt lip colour looked beautiful with the bouquet. She says,

“I wanted to keep the look quite subtle but still bold to stand out in the wild Autumn setting. So I went for a dewy fresh complexion, glossy eyelids, and a lovely deep red lip to tie in with the bouquet and pop against her pastel pink hair.”
