Chic meets rustic outdoor vibes is the order of the day with this beautifully executed styled shoot at Kimbolton Castle, Cambridgeshire. Its laid back, chic styling shows us how a woodland wedding should be done; woodland floral swings, naked tipis with fur throws and completed with a woodland fairy princess. Here we catch up with make-up artist and styled shoot co-ordinator Ali who tells us all about the inspiration, and finding the right suppliers for the job…
“I wanted to bring together a like-minded creative bunch of local wedding business suppliers to do a styled shoot that we could all collaborate on, to bring inspiration to couples getting married. I was inspired to do an outdoor woodland shoot using nature as a backdrop to influence our wedding theme settings.”
“It was shot in the beautiful extensive grounds of Kimbolton Castle. Using the woodland area gave us lots of settings to choose from as well as using the beautiful grandness of the castle in the background too.”
“As we wanted to create an outdoor wedding ceremony, Gemma from The White Emporium created a ceremony aisle using a naked Tipi as a backdrop filled with faux fur rugs which also posed for a perfect cosy hides hole. The aisle was lined with candles placed on log slices and stumps. The perfect picture frame was created by draping chiffon and leaf garland from a tree bow. Gemma adorned branches from the trees with long pieces of ribbon that were blown creating lovely movements in the autumn breeze.”
“We had a swing hanging from a tree with the ropes entwined with foliage and florals and brought a chaise long into the woods and decorated the surrounding area with lanterns and candles”
Photography
“I love Cat Lane’s style, capturing beautiful shots throughout the day of the styled shoot as well as behind the scenes too.”
Bridal inspiration
“Model Tilda wore a Justin Alexander dress from George James Bridal and we added a bespoke lace top made by Becky from ‘Love From Becky’ which gave the dress a more Boho feel. Further to this a white faux fur cape supplied by Nicola from George James Bridal was applied to complete the look”
Florals
“I asked the girls at Fleurette if they could create a long trailing bouquet they produced the most gorgeous red bouquet of florals!”
Hair and Make Up
“For hair I wanted to show the length of Tilda’s hair looking natural and effortless with a loose curl and plaits. I wanted to keep the makeup quite natural and minimal with the exception of introducing a touch of warm gold to the eyes.”
Our Woodland Fairy Princess
Rosy, our cute little flower girl, was more a woodland princess with attitude, with her cool crimped hair dusted with glitter and her whimsical crown. Gemma embellished her cons and her tulle skirt was made by Becky from ‘Love From Becky’ and let’s not forget her magical wand too!!
