Rustic vintage wedding vibes from today’s beautifully styled shoot set at Hautbois Hall, Norwich. Coordinated by hair and make-up artist Stephanie Alexandra and photographer Louise McGee, it shows a how a mixture of styles can be incorporated into your wedding, with a true vintage dress, bold rustic florals, and on trend boho macrame details. Here we catch up with the team behind the shoot to find out how this rustic vintage wedding inspiration was created, and there’s some top tips and advice along the way too…
Rustic Vintage Wedding with 1980’s Wedding Dress and Orange Flowers
“We wanted to do the shoot to create an autumnal bridal scene using warm, earthy tones and a mixture of wedding styles by collaborating with talented local wedding suppliers.”
“Our main influence was Autumn, from this we contacted and got different suppliers on board and bought together different wedding styles, vintage, rustic and boho. Although we collaborated several styles we ensured the Autumn theme ran through all the styles, using warm toned colours in each aspect of the shoot.”
“Hautbois Hall loves to let the couple create their own wedding day. Avoiding the restrictive packages, they can think out of the box. Set on a 52 acre Norfolk estate, the Tudor Hall is nestled in the centre of the land allowing you to have beautiful views and privacy. Cheryl Beeney, Wedding Planner, helps the couple throughout the whole booking process and co-ordinates on the day too.”
Rustic Vintage Wedding Styling – Holly Honeywell Weddings
“A macramé backdrop is the perfect way to add boho style to a wedding ceremony, offering couples a great opportunity to be beautifully framed as they exchange their vows. The backdrop was placed in front of the impressive doorway to enhance the feel of grandeur, and incorporate the Tudor architecture into the ceremony.”
“The gorgeous soft greens and splashes of rich colour complimented the silver lanterns perfectly, and this was repeated in the chair aisles with shepherd crooks and lanterns and macrame Mr and Mrs signs.”
“The vintage bike looks amazing framed by the doorway and the flowers are highlighted by their rustic setting. A great favourite with guests as an entrance way or approaching a venue. Inside, brass candlesticks were positioned on the windowsills to provide height and to mirror the floral displays. Lighting is so important and these worked perfectly with the beautiful fairy lights at the venue.”

We understand it can be tricky for Brides to choose one style and many feel they have to stick with one style throughout their wedding. This shoot documents how you can bring together different themes and styles that inspire you and bring out your personality.”
“I loved the blend of autumn, vintage, boho and rustic themes, this provided me with tons of details to photograph, this is one element of weddings that I love as it showcases fabulous suppliers, and the hard work and personalisation the couple have put into their big day. It captures another part of the couples story.”
“One of my favourite moments of the shoot was when Emily rode the beautiful vintage bike loaned by Holly, in a long delicate bridal dress this couldn’t have been easy but Emily didn’t hesitate. I love natural moments and strive to capture natural unposed moments between couples and their loved ones.”
“I always tell couples to pretend I’m not there, just do what you are doing laugh with each other, have fun and most importantly be you, couple shots are supposed to be fun and time for just the two of you (and the photographer, just pretend they`re not there!) do a little dance, stare into each others eyes, laugh with one another do whatever makes you feel comfortable.”
Bridal – Cambridge Vintage Bridal
“The dress chosen for this shoot is an epic 1980s vintage piece but with lovely soft lines it floats beautifully in an outdoor setting. This dress very much borrows from Edwardian style wedding dresses with it’s high neck, feminine frills and long shapely sleeves.”
I’ve had a lot of brides this season looking for wedding dresses with high necks and sleeves for their winter 2019 weddings so this kind of style really endures. This dress style works beautifully with a cover-up; whether that’s a blanket by the beach, a faux fur stole, or even a sharp tailored blazer over the shoulders to match a vibrantly coloured pair of shoes.”
“The great thing about this style of vintage dress is that it really can work in any kind of setting, be it countryside, or city; the wedding itself doesn’t have to be ‘vintage’ for this style dress to shine as it is so versatile and quirky.”
Flowers – Charlotte Staff Flowers
“I love big bold arrangements with lots of use of form and texture, i chose to use pampas grass with it’s big feathery plumes and Tillandsia with its fabulous foliage and shape. The pampas takes on the vintage feel (imagine Victorian parlours!) with the subtle twist of the modern airplant.”
“The green grey foliage worked beautifully alongside the autumnal orange of the spiky Leucospermum and delicate Crocosmia The whole look a wonderful reflection of the setting of the house and garden.”
“I would always guide and advise my brides to go for Flowers’s and foliage that are heavily in season at the time of their wedding. This ensures the best blooms possible. Also when deciding the style of bouquet you’d like, take in your surroundings as a whole, think of the bigger picture, your end pictures will definitely be fabulous from it!”

“What I love about Autumn is the colours, we really wanted to capture that in the outdoors as well as bringing that warm, cosy feel. Model Emily showcased Cambridge Vintage bridal’s vintage dress beautifully throughout the shoot, as a hair and makeup artist I really wanted the style to suit the theme so I used warm orange and brown tones for the eyes, keeping the look earthy and fresh to compliment the lovely rustic woods and floral oranges surrounding Emily. We incorporated flowers from Charlotte Staff flowers into her lose curls to complete the look.”

“The beautiful driveway lined with trees guiding you to the hidden grounds of Hautbois Hall sets the picturesque scene. With stunning rooms to be transformed in, it was a joyful experience to have Stephanie do my autumnal makeup. It perfectly complimented Charlotte’s gorgeous floral arrangements, with bright orange flowers and furry pampas grass.”
“Louise captures the vintage boho theme with detailed images, providing you with the hidden touches from Holly. Photographing some of the fiddly added touches which are important but something’s forgotten in pictures. The dresses vintage elegant lace only added to the style we were trying to achieve.”
“The most fun part was riding the vintage bike, bouquet in basket, lace pooling around me and wellies in, peeping through the brilliant white on the dress.”
