Industrial Wedding with Chic Vibes and Bridal Separates

“The style of the shoot was hugely influenced by the distinctive windows of Hermitage Rd.  My team and I aimed to explore the moodier side of love and create a style that was raw, original, dramatic and visually exciting.”

“The colours and textures played such a huge role to create a relaxed and romantic atmosphere. A bed made of silver birch branches indulged with layers of velvet and surrounded by wild, informal flower arrangements and candle light. This setting along with natural light raging through the giant window created the perfect balance.”

Styling and Floristry created by Stylenvy – Ellene Nye

“I love doing shoots because they push me to explore, experiment and have the creative freedom to produce my best work.  With this particular shoot I wanted to encourage brides to not be afraid to stick to what they love when planning their wedding. There are no rules – Go big, Go bold and Go Wild.”

“Why you did the shoot – We have a beautiful urban building with so many of the original features, which is the perfect back drop for a photoshoot. We have hosted a few weddings here and thought why not create an amazing styled shoot to really show off our space? This was also a perfect opportunity to get local suppliers involved to showcase themselves.”

“The theme and décor has been based on the originality of the building as well as introducing industrial and retro aspects. We have reclaimed such aspects of the maple dance floor and the oak bar flooring as well as the black and white marble check flooring downstairs. The walls of the restaurant and bar have been pulled back to the original brick work which gives a rustic effect. The original teak doors that we once used to separate the two rooms apart we have fixed down to build waiter stations and the left over we have attached to the front of the bar. With the bar we have created an industrial look with a zinc top 8.5 metres long and behind the bar a wine rack made out of steel with a sliding ladder. The furniture is a mixture of industrial looking and reclaimed articles. Oak tables, metal chairs, metal bar stools and upholstered booth seating.”

“When Ellene of Stylenvy, and Susanne of The Hermitage Rd, approached me to do this shoot, their vision was already starting to come together. The styling side of things was ethereal and dreamy in feel, but the location had an industrial chic edge.”

“My approach was pretty simple: I wanted to bridge the gap between these two things; I wanted to create an atmosphere of confidence and edge. Some couples are super touchy feely, others aren’t. I love it when a couple is so comfortable in themselves, that they can each own the frame in their own right. There’s so much romance in that sort of approach. Don’t be afraid to own it in your wedding photos, and work with a photographer who will help to bring this out of you.”

“My vision was always to specialise in Weddings. It’s wonderful being part of something so life changing and such a happy day. Everyone is in good spirts reminiscing about past times of the bride, sharing special moments such as present giving or those group photo shots. Then once the bride has her dress on, the makeup and the hair just finish off the look.”

Hair Stylist – Sasha Wren

“My style is fresh and romantic with a modern, messy twist. I love creating bridal hair and finding that perfect style to compliment the chosen dress.  My top tip is to choose a hair design that isn’t out of your comfort style. Lots of brides feel like they need to look different but looking the best version of yourself is key. I’m also a huge lover for a hair accessory.”

Bridal Gown Skirt from Heirloom Collections Edwina Ward

This skirt was created as a project between myself and the photographer, Gemma (The Wardette Studio) She wanted a piece that would photograph beautifully, with all the texture, movement and detail that photographers cry out for when shooting something like this. The fabric was key, so we chose a very light tulle, and created as many layers as possible. Let’s be honest, a skirt is super wearable compared to a dress, and brides can style separates like this in their own way. The gorgeous satin waistband gives a luxurious detail, and a comfortable fit. These pieces are made to measure, in a variety of tulle colours. Plus, you can always find an excuse to wear this again.”
