Your pre-wedding prep is almost as important as the day itself, taking care of yourself and your wellbeing is paramount to how you feel and look on your wedding day, and your feet are no exception. They need love, and they need to be ready for a day to remember. Tomorrow is No Sock’s Day, and to celebrate it I want to help you with your pre-wedding foot prep to get them ready for those wedding shoes! Summer is also on its way and as the sun makes a welcome appearance, our feet might need a little love, especially when those sandals and open-toe shoes come out! I am sure I am not the only one who has lived in comfy footwear during the lockdowns. Shoving on socks, covering it all up. It’s time to take those socks off and celebrate No Socks Day with our perfectly pampered feet!
The best way to start is to soak your feet this will soften the nails and skin enabling you to cut your nails easily. You can use a crisp fresh towel or facecloth to gently slough away dead flaky skin. You can add in a foot soak for a treat and a scent sensation.
Avoid removing hard skin in one go. This can cause irritation and leave the skin sore. I would also avoid any implements that shave lumps of hard skin away. This can cause the skin to react by shedding more skin and is counterproductive. Using a foot file after a soak, gentle file in one direction to slough off any skin. It’s tempting to use a back-and-forth motion with a file, this can cause friction and heat up the skin. Moving In one direction is gentle and effective.
Toenail care is one of the keys to healthy-looking feet. Cut your toenails straight with some good quality clippers or scissors. Cut them straight and not too far down. Leave a little edge of the nail. To avoid ingrown toenails gently file the corners of the nails away especially on the big toe.
For an indulgent treat for the feet, moisture socks are fabulous for gentle heating the feet and letting the skin absorb as much moisture as possible. To make the most of doing this follow the above steps and soak your feet before you apply these funky socks. Put your feet up and enjoy five minutes!
Give your feet a pamper after a bath or shower with some moisturiser, foot creams are designed to absorb quickly, and I love shea butter as it is such a wonderful ingredient. Add a small amount to your fingertips and massage in. The soles of the feet are not overly absorbent so concentrate on the heels and tops of the feet. Do not forget the toes, gentle massage over the nails.
With our toes now ready to make an appearance we can add some colour! There is something about spring that makes me want to add some coral and reds to my toes! The vegan nail polishes by Nails Inc are fantastic and come in a variety of shades. You can use rolled-up tissues to gentle separate the toes whilst you add a couple of layers of your fave colour. Don’t forget by using an undercoat you will stop your nails from turning yellow from any strong nail colour. In a hurry or always manage to smudge your nail polish? Me to! Use a quick drying top coat to help increase the drying time and add a nice finish to your polished pinkies.
