Inspiration
“Planning this shoot has been a long-term goal of mine, driven by my admiration for RSA House as one of my favourite venues in London. Its commitment to sustainability, inclusivity, and diversity, combined with its rich historical spaces, provided the perfect foundation for a creative concept that celebrates underrepresented cultures in the luxury wedding industry. Inspired by ancient icons, I envisioned Cleopatra—a figure of timeless power and elegance—and imagined how her wedding might be reinterpreted in 2024. This led to a design that merges historical influence with modern sophistication, offering a fresh perspective on cultural representation in luxury spaces. Golden yellow tones were chosen deliberately to complement the venue’s unique charm while introducing a bold colour palette that had yet to be explored in its storied rooms. My goal was to inspire future couples to embrace creativity and make daring design choices within an already bold and iconic setting, redefining what luxury means in today’s world.”
Styling
“When styling a bold cultural wedding in a historic venue, focus on blending cultural heritage with the venue’s charm to create a harmonious and meaningful celebration. Incorporate traditional elements—such as attire, decor, or colours—while complementing the venue’s architecture and history. Balance bold cultural details with modern touches, like sustainable florals or contemporary table settings, to merge tradition and innovation seamlessly working with creative professionals who share your vision, couples can create a wedding that honours their values, celebrates cultural inspiration, and stands out as bold and unforgettable. Couples can turn this theme into reality by blending historical inspiration with modern, sustainable design. Start by selecting a venue with a rich history and ethical values, such as RSA House, to set the stage for a celebration rooted in inclusivity and sustainability. Incorporate silk floral arrangements for an eco-friendly, reusable alternative to fresh flowers, and choose a bold palette—such as golden yellows paired with soft lavender and greenery—that complements the space while making a statement.”
The Venue
“Beyond its aesthetic appeal, RSA House is deeply committed to sustainability, inclusivity, and ethical practices. Its diversity statement emphasises creating spaces that welcome and celebrate all communities, while its plant-based, locally sourced menu aligns with modern values of environmental consciousness. It’s an iconic London venue that seamlessly combines historic elegance with a forward-thinking ethos. Positioned in the heart of the city, the Grade I listed building boasts a storied history dating back to the 18th century. It’s a special one.”
Get The Look
Photography – “Choosing your wedding photographer is about so much more than simply loving their images. Understand how they will approach your wedding, to ensure that the experience they offer is the perfect match for your wedding.”
The Dress – “If you’d like a wedding dress fit for a Queen on your wedding day look for simple slimline dresses with shoulder detail and gold embellishment. A cape train is both elegant and practical, it can be removed for later in the day leaving you with a manageable dress for dancing. The dress I designed and made for this shoot included a full ballroom tulle overskirt with a luxurious gold metal leaf at the hem. Ordering a bespoke dress from a skilled dressmaker is not just for royalty. I work with clients to create their unique wedding dresses from design to completion where budgets from £2000-£4000 are realistic for most designs. So while it’s not as cheap as off the peg, the extra value of knowing your dress will be a perfect fit and exactly what you want is worth every penny.”
Flowers – “Silk florists Fleur de la Couture achieved this whimsical ceremony look with a dramatic horseshoe of meadow flowers that flowed into the aisle, for an immersive botanical experience. A feature broken arch beautifully framed the fireplace. For the reception, the floral designs were grand and luxurious, with statement-raised centrepieces and a garland of bud vases with nestled candles. Totally divine! You wouldn’t believe it, but all flowers and foliage used in this wedding are faux, beautifully replicating natural stems and achieving stunning installations without the waste from single-use fresh flowers. The joy of choosing silk flowers is treasuring your bouquet forever, with many brides displaying theirs in a vase at home after the wedding. Brides are encouraged to contribute to the design of their bouquet, helping to select their favourite flowers, with Yana falling in love with the sunshine yellow garden roses used in her bouquet.”
Cake – “The look here is a combination of edible gold leaf and stencilling in a darker gold, although the stencil could be in any colour, and the gold leaf could be silver. The flowers are also edible, created in a mix of sugar wafer paper. These can also be in the colours to match your scheme.”
Stationery – “To create this luxurious stationery suite, I drew inspiration from William Morris’s timeless “Larkspur” pattern. Using a bold yellow version, I incorporated it as envelope liners and a striking vellum overlay on menus, balancing its vibrancy with minimalist typography and hand-drawn illustrations, including a bespoke sketch of RSA House. Couples can achieve this look by pairing bold patterns with clean, modern design elements for a refined yet personal feel. The menus were layered with translucent vellum, secured with eyelets, and tied with hand-dyed silk ribbon in chartreuse green. This layering technique adds texture and dimension to any table setting. Oval place cards tied to menus mirrored the suite’s leaf motif, bringing cohesion to the overall design.
Silk signage added drama and sustainability, doubling as a keepsake for couples. Every element was crafted with FSC-certified materials and traditional UK-made processes, ensuring the design was as meaningful as it was beautiful.”
Wedding Newspapers – “Every wedding newspaper I create is bespoke, so I always start by asking my clients what the plans for their day are, I then look at their colours, mood boards, inspo and any ideas for content. Once I have this I can brainstorm and work in collaboration until we have something that fits their plans, style and personalities perfectly. For this shoot, I wanted to create something fun and bold but understated using modern shapes and fonts. There are layers of texture and patterns as well as bright colours that keep it fresh and make the design pop.”
Jewellery – “For a fabulous Goddess-like look on your wedding day, nothing compares to bespoke jewellery handcrafted with you and your theme in mind. Renowned Parisian designer Catherine Marche brought this vision to life, styling both the bride and groom with textured wedding rings chosen to match while evoking antiquity. To complement her epic look, the bride wears exquisite solid gold earrings, handmade from upcycled jewels and set with vibrant red Rubellite tourmalines to symbolise love and passion. Her sculptural engagement ring is a striking sunshine yellow Citrine set in gold. Plan ahead and allow 6-12 weeks for bespoke creations to ensure your jewellery, which is the only thing you will wear for years, is as unforgettable as your day. Whether custom-made or ready-to-wear, Catherine’s designs exude her unique fashion flair which will make your wedding day truly special, creating memories that last a lifetime.”
