If you’re tying the knot in 2025 or even 2026, then the bridal fashion, as always, is full of drama, fun, and timeless trends. From Georgian-inspired sleeves to chic minis and statement accessories, there’s something for every kind of bride. But remember, trends are simply a guide, bend them, reinterpret them, or mix them up to suit your personal style… you don’t have to follow them to the letter because let’s face it your wedding day is all about YOU. If you want to be fashion-forward yet ethically minded, look for trends in vintage and second-hand pieces from bridal hats, lace corsets, or vintage veils there are so many ways to incorporate these trends to create a look that’s uniquely yours. In today’s article, we are joined by bridal business coach Joanna Southwell as we explore the 2025 wedding dress trends that we know you’re going to LOVE…
“If you are getting married in 2025, you are in for a treat. Fashion and bridal are closer than ever. Designers are flowing between the two, creating dramatic, fun and fashionable bridal wear. That’s not to say that everything is modern. Whilst we are seeing fun and modern designs, there is also a strong heritage influence with dresses that look back to the Georgian and Regency periods. Whatever you want to wear on your Big Day, 2025 has something for you. Here’s what’s big for next year…”
Removable Skirts
“Wedding dresses with a removable skirt have been in the background for a long time but they are BIG news right now. Allowing brides to have multiple looks in one day, they are both practical and fun. Removable skirts act well for people wanting a dramatic ceremony outfit but a comfortable reception or dancing outfit. Fashion-focused brides will also love the ability to change up their look and surprise their guests.”
Mini Wedding Dresses
“Up next and sometimes under a removable skirt is a mini wedding dress. I am delighted this trend continues over to 2025. Once thought of as only for a second dress, minis have shown us just how flexible they are. Civil ceremonies, destination weddings and modern brides can enjoy going short on their Big Day. There are so many interesting styling options with a mini dress including my next two trends.”
Bridal Hats and Scarfs
“One of my favourite trends for next year is the resurgence of bridal hats and scarves. Think The Parent Trap and 1990s classic elegance. Floating silk and satin scarves placed backwards around the neck look so chic with a strapless or column wedding dress and hats with a tulle veil on top or at the back get my vote any day. Wearing one of these accessories will give any bride a fashion edge whilst still looking timeless.”
Veils, Veils, Veils
“Another trend from 2023 and 2024 that’s still hot for the coming year is veils. With so many lengths, styles, colours and textures available, there is an option to accompany every bridal look. Veils are able to add both a fun edge or pack-on romance to your look. Layer on the lace, personalise with embroidery or add a pop of colour, a veil can do it all.”
All Over Lace
“It was not long ago (13 years ago in fact) that we were all obsessing over Princess Kate’s lace, Sarah Burton, wedding dress. The dress was timeless. So much so that the long-sleeved, all-over lace dress is big news again for 2025. So many beautiful lace dresses were seen on the bridal catwalks in a variety of shapes and styles. I am loving lace corsets right now.”
Dramatic Sleeves…Again
“Big sleeves are back again for bridal looks in 2025. This time it is not just about the puffy sleeve though. English Georgian and Regency period design is a big part of bringing the big sleeve back with dresses and separates that follow that theme. Sleeves are now coming through in a range of fabrics and shapes and some of my favourites have ties, bows or hanging pearls.”
Boho
“Mainstream fashion and the latest wave of Chloe obsessive influencers and celebrities has filtered over to bridal for 2025. Boho is back. Frills, chiffon, all-over lace, and tassels are all back. If clean, minimalist styles are not your thing then 2025 has you covered. Don’t be afraid to lean into the style and remember hats are in too which is great news for a head-to-toe boho bridal look.”
Corsets
“Another part of heritage design that is in full force for next year is corsetry. Dropped waist, visible boning, lace back, scoop neck, off the shoulder; it’s all here! Corsets look fantastic on every single body out there and add so much glamour to a wedding day, it’s no wonder they are so popular. If you ever dreamed of marrying in a corset, 2025 is your year. “
Bonus Trend: Guests in Black Tie
Another bridal fashion trend I can see both in editorials and real weddings is the rise of guests in black tie. Get your guests glammed up and enjoy a thoroughly stylish day.”
