“The streets of Rome. Perfect for romantic couples who want to have a fun and intimate wedding or honeymoon. We wanted to create a playful elopement featuring two very Italian elements, Vespas and pizza. Our models were newlyweds on their actual honeymoon so we wanted a scenario where they could be natural allowing their true connection to be shown. We hired a Vespa and photographed the models riding and enjoying the city. They stopped for pizza and enjoyed a relaxed lunch together. These are two fun and inexpensive things any couple can do in Rome, on their wedding or honeymoon. The shoot shows how beautiful the simple things are.”
“As we were using a Vespa I wanted to create a fun but classic bridal look for the model. I chose a short wedding dress and styled it with long tulle gloves and a stunning bridal hat. The look was comfortable and practical for riding a Vespa and sitting to eat pizza but it still felt special. It was an ideal look for a destination elopement as the items were light, and easy to pack but still looked special. The couple had his and her jewellery made that they could wear forever and both outfits could be re-worn in the future for other events.”
Photography
“Being comfortable with your photographer is essential when you are having an elopement. Find someone who feels like a friend and that you are happy to spend the day with as you will be together all day. Ask your photographer to meet (in person or virtually) before your Big Day to make sure you get on. Share details on your day and any pictures or moments you really want to capture then trust your professional and have fun.”
The Dress
“Think about how you want to feel on your wedding day. This will help you start your search and guide you in finding your perfect look. If you want to feel free and comfortable then look for unstructured dresses or separates. If your aim is old glamour, then form-fitting dresses with a train and long veil will be a great option to explore. When trying on dresses if it feels right, trust your gut and buy it!”
Flowers
“Elopements such as the one we created in Rome do not have a lot of wedding flowers, so you can really have fun with your bridal bouquet and buttonhole. Find a local florist where you’re getting married and ask them what varieties of flowers grow nearby. Having flowers or foliage that are indigenous to the area is a lovely way to celebrate your chosen destination.”
