“With the rise of bohemian inspired wedding trends and details, we decided to get together like-minded vendors and create an editorial that visualized our take on this trend – with a touch of glam and country. Our idea was to have a real, fashion-forward couple that still loves a bohemian lifestyle but the countryside of northern Virginia. Everything from the bridal fashion, online tuxedo rental, and stationery to the table décor and floral design was influenced by the textures of the barn venue and details of bohemian weddings.”

“The shoot took place on a farm, in a red door barn. This venue is perfect for intimate rustic weddings and larger formal weddings – the look and feel of Rockwood is able to accommodate all types of weddings styles and sizes.
“Styling every piece was carefully thought out to resemble the autumnal colour palette with warm, Earth tones but also embrace the joy of a simple rural lifestyle surrounded by glamorous beauty. For our photography, we wanted warm colours and spontaneous smiles and a comfortable elegant bride.
“The flowers were a loose, organic bohemian floral design using seasonal flowers and pulling colours from the seasonal – dusty oranges and yellows, dark burgundy red, bronze, blush, black, coral, and peach with hints of sage green with accents of dried greenery and pampas grass. The florals convey the changing of the season and the dark early nights with highlights of blush blooms and pops of light in a chilly late autumn day.”
“The cake was chic and elegant with black and gold details – a contrast to the more romantic and bohemian details all around, but still perfectly tying into our theme blending both styles. This cake was the essence of the shoot.”
“Your make up must match the mood you are going for. In this case, as the bride changed her dress, she also got a little makeover, and the MUA applied red lipstick to pair with her red earrings. The Earrings were key throughout the shoot. The bride changed them 3 times. From long evident ones for her portraits to something less visible for the ceremony, until the cake cut, where the earrings were big and red. Don’t be afraid to risk a little, especially after the ceremony, when the fun begins!”
