Simple, clean and fresh, but oh so luxurious for today’s botanical castle wedding inspiration set at Dvigrad Ruins, Istria, Croatia. The concept, styling and florals were by the team behind Artium Weddings, Katarina, Armin and Anđela who created this dreamy shoot full of inspirational details. We catch up with them to hear all about this beautiful destination wedding…
Inspiration
“Since the whole world was paused due to the pandemic, especially the wedding industry, we met couples every day who were going through worries and delays instead of the most beautiful day in their lives. The shooting was symbolic, on the site of the old ruins of a city that was abandoned due to a pandemic. A wedding without guests, just two people in love with a message that is also the official hashtag of the project – #cantforbidlove”
“This is the first wedding in this location, at least in this century. The location is well known to tourists and we invite all future newlyweds to visit the location first, they will surely fall in love with it, like us. The location is a ruin of the old town. The exact place where we did the shooting is the remains of the basilica so it is suitable for a wedding ceremony. We decided to make it luxurious but not intrusive because we wanted to highlight the beauty of the location. The highlight of the entire shoot was a ceremony led by a story about the connection between love and wine. The ceremony was led by a symbolic officiant who is also a sommelier. As the sun went down we prepared lighting as a message of positivity, when the wedding was about to end because darkness had arrived, we turned on the lights and the love continued.”

Styling
Stylist – Artium Weddings
“While the white-green wedding combination seems to be a classic and you can’t go wrong with that choice, we chose it because we wanted to accentuate the location rather than draw attention. Whenever we get to a location for the first time, we create a vision in our head that is much easier to turn into action in stylized shots. In real weddings, it is very important to pay attention to the character of the newlyweds and choose a wedding theme that suits them.”
Photography
Photographers – IndigoBlu Weddings and Nina Roland Weddings
“Mostly we always advise newlyweds to choose a photographer with whom they feel comfortable, with whom they have “clicked” with, someone who understands what they want. But also every photographer has their own style, an artistic signature that is recognisable and you can’t ask a photographer to change their style, at least we never would. We chose two photographers we had already worked with and we knew they would do a great job. We wanted “clean” photos, which give the impression of luxury but at the same time have an artistic note that matches the ruins.”
Bride and Groom
The Dress – LUKABU by Marina Jerant
“The wedding dress is, at first glance, is a classic style and shape. It is simple and feminine at the same time, but when you look closer, you can see a dose of luxury and boldness packaged in the sweetness of a fluttery dress.”
Hair and Makeup – Studio Lara
“We went with the idea of a more natural make-up that gives off a more formal look. Red lipstick was a great addition, a bit unexpected but completely blended. The hairstyle was a neat low bun, again we wanted a simple but formal hairstyle.”
Suit and Accessories – Fidelio Tailor
“The handmade tuxedo for the groom was the perfect fit. We went with a dark blue colour to avoid the classic black suit.”
The Details
Flowers – Artium Weddings
“We used exotic greenery and white and green flowers. Roses that are rightfully the queen of flowers must have been part of this story. The large green leaves that we often associate exclusively with exotic themes are suitable for flower arrangements and bouquets that we want to look simple and not overloaded.”
