I love today’s rustic wedding; not just for its handmade charm but also because the bride found her photographer at our wedding fair in London. Rebecca and Richard met Matilda Delves at Chiswick and I can see from the photos it was a perfect match.
The wedding was at South Farm in Royston, near Cambridge. The couple live in live in North London, where they lived together for two years before the wedding. Rebecca is an Editor at the charity WaterAid, and Richard is a Director at a health-care market access consultancy. They got together in early summer 2011, and had been friends for a while before. They were engaged in April 2014, on a boat in Vietnam, and got married in July the year after.
Rebecca describes the day, “I don’t think either of us had a vision growing up as such. We were both probably a lot more traditional when we were much younger, but as adults creating a relaxed, fun and friendly day became the most important thing.”
“We wanted somewhere where we could have get married outside, somewhere in the countryside, within reach of London and family, where people could stay over and camp, with excellent food, beautiful outdoor spaces, friendly staff, and piglets.”
“I spent a really long time looking for my dress, before visiting Minna which happened to be near my office. The dress I tried on was knee length, but I loved it, so I had it made in full length instead. It couldn’t have been more ideal, and was sorted just in the nick of time.”
“We wanted to create a relaxed, homemade, slightly hippyish, rustic vibe. As such we included as many personal touches and homemade elements as we could, didn’t make all our brides people and best men dress the same, chose dried rustic flowers, made sure there were pigs at the venue, had the ceremony outside, and got our friends and family involved with playing music, cake-making, photo booth, camping, and growing flowers.”
“I spent a lot of looking online, and wishing we lived in California so we could do it all in a wood without getting rained on!”
“The best part of the day was the ceremony! Followed by the speeches, and Rich joining his best men band to play a few favourites.”
