BIG loves to Emily and Geoff’s wedding on the blog today, a chic and colourful circus wedding with of course some Greatest Showman vibes thrown in – its the perfect mix of personality and fun for this unique wedding with a chic edge. Here we catch up with the couple who tell us all about their love story and how and why they created their colourful circus wedding…
How Did You Meet?
“At Harrow Gymnastics Club, Emily was training as a Cheerleader, she was working on getting a particular skill for an upcoming competition. Geoff was a coach at an adult open gym session, he shouted some advice at her and they got talking, the rest is history so they say.”
The Proposal
“2016 on a holiday in Santorini. We walked (trekked in the midday sun) up to the top of Mount Thera, where the ancient city once was. At the very edge of the ancient ruins Geoff got down on one knee and proposed with Emily’s Nan’s own engagement ring, that was given to him to propose with when he felt the time was right.”
Planning The Wedding
“Due to our love of acrobatics it was always going to be a circus theme, it had to be classy though, so went with a ‘Water for Elephants’ inspired circus theme. We made a lot of items ourselves, and actually grew the theme around some golden elephant candles Emily found in Primark.”
“We met with the Basement Florist and Fleur de Lace about a year in advance and they helped enormously, we worked together and created the perfect vintage style circus theme for us. Red, White, Gold and a touch of blue were our colours.”
The Location
“South Farm, a beautiful Farmhouse venue, with real Romany caravans (which made it fit the circus theme completely. The Summerhouse where we had our ceremony was surrounded by immaculate gardens.”
The Details
“Cake was a dummy cake made by a bridesmaid: Rebecca Douglas, flowers were by the Basement Florist. Much of the smaller finishing touches were made by Emily and Geoff.”
The Best Part of the Day
“Apart from the ceremony. The boys and some of the ladies having cigars in the garden during the golden hour, whilst listening to live singer Uche Eke or the brides shout out cards and special music mix for friends and family in the party.”
Words of Wisdom
“Give yourselves plenty of time to plan, if like us everything had to be just so, give yourselves time to throw ideas back and forward and to finally land on the best way to do something for you. Secondly, stick to your guns and have exactly what you want on your day.”
