Today we have the wedding of Jet and Anthony in a Tythe barn in Launton. They have combined two cultures, Sikh and English into a colourful and fun wedding day that we wish we were invited to! Let’s hear from the couple them selves about their planning journey and the day itself.
Tell us about the proposal!
“The proposal was intermit and personal at home with a cup of tea and cake. Something we both enjoy after a long day.” Sounds perfect!
How as the planning process?
“We knew we wanted to create a homey family atmosphere with our guests, therefore the barn setting created the cosy environment which allowed guests to be comfortable. Every detail was centred around this concept.”
The Dress
“I struggled to find the dress in boutiques so I decided to have a custom one. Dressarte Paris created my dream dress from the scratch. The dress was beaded and sparkled. The craftsmanship and quality of the dress were exceptional. The sparkles added a touch of glamour without being overpowering, and the fit was absolutely perfect.”
The suit and bridesmaids dresses were all rented.
The Venue
“The Launton Tythe Barn is a large medieval barn that dates back to the 14th century. The barn is constructed of stone and timber, showcasing traditional medieval architecture. I would recommend this venue to couples as a barn venue can provide a range of picturesque settings for both posed and candid shots. Moreover, the large, open spaces of barns allow for flexibility in seating arrangements, dance floors, and other event elements.”
“Our wedding activities started on Friday (August, 19th 2022) with some Indian traditions. We started with an intimate gathering at the Tythe farmhouse of close friends and family. We kick started the festivities with a traditional Indian haldi ceremony then followed by a menhdi ceremony. It was really important for both of us to incorporate both cultures ( as we represent both English and Sikh cultures) into our wedding and, luckily, we did it seamlessly! The evening I changed into a traditional Indian dress and both Anthony and I were presented by our Dhol players (Indian drums) to kick start the evening celebrations. Our wedding breakfast was a traditional Indian meal prepared by our amazing chef Arminder Dugal.”
What was the best part of your wedding day?
“I enjoyed every aspect of the day but seeing everyone come together was amazing.”
What are your words of wisdom for anyone else getting married?
“The day goes by so quickly you don’t really have the opportunity to process and be apart of everything. Have your guests take pictures and videos of your special day, it’s beautiful to see it from their perspective.”
What are you most looking forward to about being married?
“I’ll be honest this is a hard one. Nothing has really changed for us other than my surname. I suppose hearing Mrs Mulraney is quite nice and seeing the ring on my husband’s finger that bonded us on our special day.”
