An Italian country chic wedding is oh-so romantic and this one today does not disappoint. Set in Castelli Romani, just outside Rome, it is packed with vintage and retro touches that make our sustainable hearts sing. We catch up with the photographer, Cristiana Fiorini, who shares the details behind the wedding of Chiara & Alexander.
Chiara and Alexander’s wedding was a country chic wedding with retro vibes. One theme they cared about was to have a sustainable wedding. Also, they really cared about making it an unforgettable Italian experience for all their friends who came from all over the world to share their special day with them. As they wanted to have lunch in the greenhouse in the countryside the biggest challenge was the uncertain weather. Eventually, it was a beautiful sunny day!”
“Casale Campovecchio is an events venue in Grottaferrata, situated in the countryside of the Castelli Romani, just 20 minutes from the center of Rome. It’s a small enchantment nestled in the greenery of the Roman countryside. The highlight is the greenhouse situated among the vineyards. Meadows, vineyards, and olive tree gardens provide the backdrop to the stone farmhouse recently renovated and transformed into a romantic and welcoming location, it is a natural chic venue in rustic and bucolic style.”
“The couple’s vision for a wedding with retro vibes was evident in every detail. The venue was adorned with vintage-inspired decorations, transporting guests to a bygone era. From old petrol pumps to old-fashioned teapots, every element exuded a sense of nostalgia. The cake was simple and minimal, but still very refined with some simple flower decorations. The same thing about the flowers, the flower’s decoration was minimal and refined. The couple also preferred to use potted plants instead of cut flowers.”
“Chiara, the bride, was also a supplier of this wedding. She founded and currently runs a sustainable and organic skincare brand. She made solid soaps as wedding favours of her own wedding, using only organic and ethically sourced ingredients, as she always does for all the products she sells through her business. Also, the packaging was plastic free.”
“Chiara and Alexander’s wedding was a testament to their commitment to sustainability and eco-conscious choices. Every aspect of their celebration was thoughtfully curated to minimize environmental impact. A key focus was eliminating plastic from the event, opting for sustainable alternatives.”
“One standout feature was their choice of floral arrangements. In a departure from traditional cut flowers (which were kept at a minimum), the couple opted for potted plants (like basil, sage, and rosemary). This not only added a charming and authentic touch to the venue but also allowed guests to take home living mementos of the celebration. The tableau was made with wood by Chiara’s family business (a hardware store), reflecting the couple’s dedication to choosing materials that could be repurposed or recycled. The wedding gifts, solid soaps, were handmade by Chiara using organic ingredients and plastic-free packaging.”
