Here we catch up with the bride and groom who tell us all about how they met and created the vintage marquee wedding of their dreams…
How you Met
“We met at school aged 11 and 14 but it wasn’t until three years later that our friendship blossomed into a whirlwind romance of childhood sweethearts watching each other grow up into adulthood.”
The Proposal
“Samuel proposed on the beach at Minehead after a surprise classic adventure on the West Somerset Steam Railway. Minehead held a special place in our hearts as Annabel’s grandparents honeymooned there 50 years earlier. As usual, Annabel went to find a sea shell as a souvenir of the trip, only to come back to find Samuel down on one knee with his own special souvenir for her; a timeless gold solitaire diamond ring.”
The Location
“We decided to have the wedding at Samuel’s family farm as we wanted our wedding to have a truly rustic country spirit. Samuel is a fourth-generation farmer on his family farm in Wiltshire and some of our earliest memories as a couple were spent on the farm as teenagers; feeding the calves and taking long walks across the rolling hills. This love of the countryside flowed into the planning of our wedding and ignited the spark of our wedding theme.”
Planning the Wedding
“The first planning session took place at Vintage Marquees, we opted to use their traditional rope and pole marquees paired with vintage trestle tables and several miles of bunting! As a couple we are incredibly lucky to have amazing family and friends, we wanted our day to be enjoyed by everyone and to include everyone. Annabel’s love of music meant that all of the music at the wedding was performed by her friends and family, making the day extra special as everyone truly had an important role to play”
Best Part of the Day
“One of our favourite memories of the day was sitting on the top table at our wedding breakfast and looking down all the lines of trestle tables to see all of our friends and relations having a good time and chatting together. It truly represented the coming together of two families. Throughout the whole day we felt on top of the world, nothing can compare to the feeling of marrying your best friend surrounded by all of the people you love. The day, so beautifully created and executed by the bride’s parents, was like something taken straight out of a Thomas Hardy novel. A timeless, classic English country wedding fueled by true love and romance. Every detail of the day was meticulously planned; the bunting, fairy lights, coconut shy, skittles, ice-cream van, jazz band, pony rides, Pimm’s reception and children’s tent, open fires and Ceilidh all adding to the atmosphere of a wonderfully vintage summer village fete.”
