Scent of a Wedding
Nothing has the power to transport you in time and bring back memories as the scent of something. Scent and memories go hand-in-hand which is why more and more brides are looking for the perfect fragrance for their wedding.
Using a new perfume fragrance on your special day and honeymoon is one great way to create amazing scented memories. Every time you then choose to wear the same perfume you will be transported back to your wedding day. The perfume room at Selfridges has a wonderful range of commercial and boutique perfumes. Or tucked away behind Marble Arch is Les Senteurs, a beautiful perfume shop that stocks an array of boutique perfumes and old school heritage brands and is a real hidden gem.
Another way to make your day feel special is to fragrance the venue. Kate Middleton famously did this at her wedding, and not only perfumed the whole of Westminster Abbey but gave the same fragranced candles to guests too. Many brides are now following in her stylish footsteps, finding their own scent to mark the moment, through scented candles.
Candles add brilliant ambience to a wedding as they not only light up a room and make it sparkle, but they are incredibly romantic and decorate mantle pieces, churches, tables, staircases and guest rooms beautifully. Candles also look fantastic when sitting on mirrored surfaces to reflect the light, or grouped together surrounded by scattered fresh petals. For outside, storm lanterns look fantastic when placed along paths and on terraces in the evening.
For the bride while she is getting ready they can provide a moment of calm in an otherwise full on day. A chance to reflect on what’s about to happen, to calm the mind and to get ready to remember every moment! Some bride’s even take their chosen candle on honeymoon to keep the spirit of the day with them as they move on to their new life.
Scent with meaning however takes things to another level. Tussie Mussie produce hand poured fragrant candles, that like their Victorian posy name-sake, contain messages told through the ingredients chosen. Did you know that many brides used to carry myrtle in their wedding tussie mussie? It’s because it means happy love, and orange blossom was regularly used in hair and bouquets as marks bridal festivities. Of course Kate Middleton included Sweet William in her tussie mussie!
Tussie Mussie candles are made with natural wax, natural cotton wicks and contain essential oils, all designed to create a natural fragrance experience, but are fragrant with meaning.
