It’s all about the brides with todays vintage glam wedding dress inspiration set at Hatfield Place in Essex, a ‘Perfect Country House’ wedding venue with it’s luxury decor and dreamy picture perfect grounds. With an array of stylish dresses, it’s sure to give you lots of ideas for the big day. Here we catch up with the coordinators of the shoot, Victoria of Victoria Taylor Make Up, Dawn of Dawn Taylor Hair and Make up and Marina of Bridal Hair by Marina who tell us how they created this glam wedding dress inspiration…
“As a group of hair and makeup stylists, we all have a passion for vintage styling, especially if there is a way to give it a twist and inspire modern brides. We also wanted to create something slightly dreamy, opulent and we loved the setting of Hatfield Place which completely lends itself to that time period. We were really inspired by the stylish 1920s silent era, with the moon as a backdrop, we felt it was something really unique to inspire modern brides. It was shot within the beautiful rooms of Hatfield Place. With that crystal chandelier and sweeping staircase, with its own wall mural we thought it was the perfect location. Hatfield is a new venue and is stunning, offering so much choice for couples and also perfect for more intimate ceremonies.”
Styling – Stephanie Reilly
Styling was provided by the lovely Stephanie of Hire my Décor, who brought our vision to life with golden candelabras and foliage draped across the floor, it was all so candlelit and pretty. She also dressed our moon backdrop with white and green foliage.

“The Photography was provided by Andy Jones, who captured the whole thing beautifully. He is a talented and enthusiastic photographer and was perfect for us as he knew exactly how to get those staircase shots and light the models perfectly. Andy is a fantastic wedding photographer and has vast wedding experience.”
Bridal – Blush Bride
“The dresses were kindly provided to us by Blush, a gorgeous boutique in Leigh on Sea. They have such a wide variety of gowns but also have a love for all things vintage so picking the gowns was so easy as they had so many ones that were perfect for modern brides looking to add a dash of vintage glam to their big day. The designers were Eliza Jane Howell and Watters. We handpicked them individually to reflect the era we were paying homage to.”
Bridal Hair Accessories Dawn Taylor
“Dawn has her own business making bespoke pieces for her brides and designed the three pieces you see the models wearing. They are all made from pearls, Swarovski crystal and silk flowers and feathers; they are stunning and again reflect the era beautifully.”
Hair and Make Up
“Being hair and makeup artists, this was going to be our area of expertise. Marina and Dawn created soft, flowing hair styles that will appeal to brides of all ages but with a nod to the 20s era. The makeup was also heavily influenced by silent film, the dark burgundy lips and Smokey eyes are still looks that are perfectly wearable for a modern bride.”
Victoria Taylor: “Being so in love with vintage makeup looks, this was a chance to bring back the timeless movie stars of the past like Clara Bow and Lillian Gish, famous in the 1920s for the heavy smoky eye and the deepest berry lips designed to pop on silent film”
Marina Moore: “Inspiration for megs hair came from the traditional finger waves created in the 1920’s with literally a twist to the side, fanning out the twist to create a crest against the forehead and temple area, with a timeless chignon at the back”
Dawn Taylor: “I wanted to style Ellie’s hair in a soft sweeping up do which was gently looped to the side to balance out the feather headpiece I had designed to complement both hair and gown. Eyes were bold but still soft in shades of lavender and mauve.”
“We would also like to thank the very talented Richard Bower, who designed and crafted the moon for us, fitting it with lights and helping us to install it. This is now going to be used as a photography backdrop at parties, weddings and occasions. And also to Marina who decorated the moon with pearls and crystals to give it that ethereal look. As a team we were heavily inspired by the photograph ‘Goddess on the moon’ taken in the 1920s of a young woman perched on a moon, its whimsical and romantic but also perfect for brides wanting something a bit different.”
