Minimal wedding styling is chic, sophisticated and dramatic, in its own special way. Today, on National Simplicity Day we wanted to celebrate how beautiful simple styling for your wedding can be! We catch up with stylish Florence and Vera who gives us her top tips and advice on how to create knock out minimal wedding styling for your simple but oh so beautiful wedding day…
“Minimal does not equal boring, and from using simple techniques, paying attention to your surroundings and thinking outside the box a minimal stylish wedding that’s perfect for you can be achieved. It can also be beneficial in numerous ways, using less can both save money, using less ‘stuff’ generally means having a much more eco-friendly and sustainable wedding, which is always high on our priority list! Follow these simple tips and think about how your minimal styling can make maximum impact on the big day.”
KEEP IT CLEAN
“Clean lines and simplicity are the way forward when it comes to minimal styling; there’s much less fuss and less is more.”
FOCUS ON ONE FLOWER
“Pair back florals and focus on one bloom playing the starring role and build around that. Have less foliage and more dried flowers, as natural and organic brings a clean stylish look.”
ADD COLOUR
“Just because it’s minimal, doesn’t mean it needs to be nude, white and grey tones. Stick to a hue but tone items with it, for example, use tapered candles in a bright coloured hue to match the colour tones of your styling.”
BE CREATIVE AND MINDFUL
“Define minimalism with creativity, focus on as nature intended, and strip back the plastic, the wrapping and the bows. Keep it stylishly simple with fewer items and less chintzy fuss.”
OWN IT
“Just because minimal alludes to sparsity – doesn’t mean that it has to necessarily be that. Improvise your own minimal and use a material, a colour, a backdrop against a low-fuss, stylish, organic surrounding and you can elevate your own minimalism.”
INCLUDE YOUR SETTING
“Minimal settings allow the focus to be on the main event- the couple. Focus and look for aesthetics in the venue and really try and emphasise those, for example, use the architecture or a piece of furniture in there, for inspiration.”
THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX
“Think outside the box- minimalist doesn’t need to be a black/ white shroud – it can be tonal and stylish using a whole array of colours and palettes, whilst focusing more on the items around. Lose a plastic, wasteful favour and instead use a small basket of seeds/ dried flowers or a charity donation.”
