The Angel Hotel is a 35 bedroom hotel in the quaint, yet vibrant town of Abergavenny, Wales. Established in 1829 as a posting inn the hotel boasts some impressive features, complete with Georgian pillars and local art. It is steeped in interesting history and more recently named Good Hotel Guides, Welsh Hotel of the Year 2020. The Angel is part of a family of businesses, sharing a passion for superb food and art. The Family consists of The Angel, The Abergavenny Hotel, The Angel Bakery, The Walnut Tree and The Art Shop & Chapel (a stunning location for civil ceremonies and within walking distance of The Angel).
On the doorstep is Abergavenny Castle, which is an exceptional location for drinks receptions and photos, as it has The Blorenge mountain as a backdrop.
The Angel’s award-winning High Teas are hugely popular, so much so, that we have included them as an alternative wedding breakfast in our wedding packages.

The Cellar features the hotel’s wine cellar as a backdrop. The blue leather chairs contrast with the earthy tones of the stone walls and floor. Discretely tucked away in the basement, access is via a spiral staircase.
The Brecon Room
45 people for Civil Ceremony and 30 for Wedding breakfast.
Situated on the first floor of the hotel with easy access from the lift and stairs, the air-conditioned Brecon Room is the smallest of our private dining rooms and overlooks the historic high street. It has a large open fire and a Roger Oates flatweave rug on an oak floor. The overmantle mirror and wall sconces are gilt, and the large bay windows flood the room with natural light.
The Ballroom
180 people for Civil Ceremony and Evening reception and 144 people for Wedding Breakfast.
With its original high plasterwork ceiling, contemporary Italian crystal chandeliers and gilt sconces, tall windows, elegant mirrored alcoves and minstrels’ gallery, the Ballroom is a grand space for your celebrations. It has a private bar, opening onto a walled terrace with views towards the Blorenge mountain. Situated on the first floor of the hotel, the Ballroom can be accessed by lift, by stairs and directly from the car park.
