Tropical hula vibes on the blog today to really get us into that summer vibe! Set in Griffith Park, Los Angeles this 1940’s tropical wedding inspiration is full of bright. bold and colourful styling, vintage dresses and rustic, fun details. Here we catch up with shoot coordinator and stylist Aletha of Romance and Revelry who tells us all about how this 1940’s Tropical Wedding was created…
“Our 1940’s tropical and tiki inspired shoot included a group of amazing vendors who came together in freezing temperatures with last minute changes to create some fabulous photos. The inspiration for the shoot came from classic 1940’s movies like “Casablanca,” “One Night in the Tropics” and the modern take on “Pearl Harbor.”
“Our amazing musicians of TrioLA made beautiful music that morning for joggers and families passing by in Griffith Park. Andrianna and Salvador as our 1940’s couple both wore a combination of modern and vintage outfits from Saja Wedding and The Costume House.”
“The best cocktails in Los Angeles were provided by LA Speakeasy who supplied their own tiki mugs to add to the fun look! Beautiful rings, colorful invitations and fantastic vintage rentals were supplied by Princess Jewelers LA, Ink and Nod Designs , and Provenance Rentals respectively.”
“Adding some fabulous final touches were Sugar Studio with a delicious cake and Samantha Reese Makeup with some 1940’s inspired looks. Our shoot definitely could not have happened without our fantastic photographer Julie Shuford and Fetch Florals with their drop dead florals, both of whom somehow managed to make Griffith Park look tropical on a very chilly morning!”
Any bride who wants a tropical vibe to their wedding can easily make it happen by using tropical potted plants from any greenery or garden center store, as we did for our shoot, and sprucing up the ceremony with them in fun containers.
“Another fun idea was using a lei instead of a boutonniere for the groom which instantly makes anything look tropical! You can also include tiki drinks on the menu like our fantastic LA Speakeasy bartending company has to offer.”
“Obtain a vintage look by using an old typewriter as a focal point or even displaying a sign or menu on one. Wicker baskets and wicker peacock chairs bring the tropical vibes and are even a way to go for a more subtle tropical feel.”
