Laid back, free spirited and casual for this 1970s bohemian bride inspiration in Clophill, Bedfordshire. Traditions out the window and if you’re a bride that wants to make her own traditions for the big day, this is for you. Full of beautiful field flowers, dresses with jackets and cowboy boots for good measure – we love it! We catch up with coordinator Sabina of Sabina Ventriglia Makeup Artist and the team behind the shoot…
“The shoot was an opportunity for local suppliers to come together and create some amazing images that would hopefully inspire newly engaged couples looking to make plans for their big day!
The idea behind the shoot was to capture ‘The Casual Bride’. A woman on a mission to do things her way. Throwing away the traditions of the classic bride and enjoying her day in a way that is free spirited and, well, casual.”
“Pinterest is the perfect platform to be inspired, get ideas and create your own personal vibe and put it onto a visual board for reference. I then believe that capturing a theme or setting for your wedding doesn’t always have to be expensive. The devil’s in the detail – trawl eBay or second hand pre-loved suppliers, get creative and crafty. It’s amazing how much fun putting your own personal touch on your special day can be.”
“The shoot was shot on private land in our local area in Clophill, owned by a beautifully spirited lady who lives the most ethically eco life. So much so, that the use of mobile phones in her yurt tent were forbidden for protection of the pure energy within it. Outdoor weddings on open private land or fields are generally for the more relaxed, free spirited couple. Although weather conditions can be a risk, this type of setting doesn’t deter those couples who love fresh air in their lungs and space all around them.”
‘The Casual Bride’ was just that – relaxed and comfortable. We teamed the beautifully boho dress with boots and a jacket. The contrast of the free flowing skirt with lace bodice and the jacket and boots gave the finished look the perfect edge to your traditional bride.”

“It was important to capture our model being carefree, but with a touch of sass which was reflected with the light and contrast of the edit. Every image portrays the perfect amount of movement and happiness in a setting that was so calming.”
Flowers – Ruby Blossom Floristry
“The flowers were relaxed and romantic giving them a ‘field of flowers’ look, filled with texture and inspired by nature. The flowers were filled with earthly tones that were reflective of the Autumnal season.”
Hair and Make Up – Polly at RDW Hair and Sabina Ventriglia Makeup Artist
“Hair and makeup was not your classic style. The hair incorporated an Autumnal vibe by using textured waves, a selection of braids and finished off with fresh flowers. The hair was relaxed with lots of movement. The makeup a little more vampy that your usual bridal look – flawless skin, with a strong liquid eyeliner and deep cherry lips. Perfect for this time of year!”
