“Our team wanted to create a styled shoot that focused largely on sustainability and the use of local elements; the florals were procured from local gardens, and all aspects of the shoot were created by small business owners in our community. By using gorgeous backdrops native to our community (Anchorage House and Cottages for our ceremony setup, and the coast of Saint Margaret’s Bay for additional bride and groom photos), we were able to tie in some natural elements and showcase some of our province’s most beautiful assets. We also wanted to add an alternative twist to the typical styled shoots we’ve seen before.”
“All aspects of this editorial were created with sustainability in mind; our floral pieces were created from plants and flowers that are native to Nova Scotia, and all styling pieces (our beautiful dress, earrings, rentals) were provided by local Nova Scotian companies. Even our wine was made locally from Vintner’s Cellar in Bedford, Nova Scotia!”
Styling –
“Artist and stylist Melanie Mendez Munden has a background in fashion design, producing shows, editorials, experience in set design, rugs and interior design. She brought her incredible talents to this shoot and designed our set and did the florals as well. Allen Carver from MadSecretsLabs was our brilliant carpenter. Photographer Sinead Dubeau styled the models and directed our shoot to create some truly magical images.
“Our carpets, pillows, and accessories were borrowed from Interior Surfaces and were integral to creating our bohemian look.”
Photography – Sinead Dubeau Photography
“Sinead Dubeau is an internationally published wedding and portrait photographer based in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Her bright, colourful, film-inspired style was the perfect look for this editorial shoot, and was an integral component in our team’s planning.”
Bridal – Aziz Bridal
“Aziz Bridal & Master Tailor has a collection of Canadian made bridal wear from across Canada; they graciously loaned us a stunning Maggie Sottero dress. Skin Decision Studio loaned us ear weights from Tether Jewelry to complete the look!”
Flowers – Nautical Nuptials South Shore
“Designer Melānie Mendez Munden of Nautical Nuptials created the floral pieces from naturally occurring local plants from her niece’s garden. Her innovative use of smoke bush in the bridal bouquet created a remarkable shape and made quite the impression!”
Hair and Make Up – Bowtique and Makeup by Jordynn
“Bowtique Hair & Makeup created our bride model’s stunning retro hair with loose waves, and we worked with Makeup by Jordynn to create our model’s bright and dewy bridal styling.”
