Today we have a relaxed woodland vibes and a beautiful modern cut out wedding dress for a hand fasting ceremony at All Manor of Events in Ipswich, Suffolk. This team of creative wedding suppliers coordinated by Jodie of Ella Bella Weddings and Events came together to create a small ceremony with a boho woodland feel, to show that even if your main nuptials have been postponed you can still celebrate on your original date, just the two of you, amongst nature! We catch up with Jodie and the team…
“The inspiration behind the shoot was despite the restrictions you can still celebrate your original wedding date with a celebrant led, hand fasting ceremony. Set in a gorgeous private woodland at All Manor of Events in Suffolk using natures best elements with the natural light and shade from the trees to create a romantic and laid back ambiance, with a Macrame backdrop and pampas scattered throughout. Outdoor weddings are going to be on the rise and can work very well for the micro and socially distanced wedding. With the natural light and surroundings, woodlands can provide a wonderful setting for non-traditional, bohemian, rustic, shabby chic, whimsical, and magical weddings. Let nature be your inspiration.”
Flowers and Styling – Triangle Nursery
“We love to share our creativity and passion, so used a selection of neutral and earthy tones in an unstructured style designed to embrace the natural outdoor setting. We wanted to highlight the free spirit of our bride and evoke both romance and a magical quality. Combining quirky and whimsical styling using natural Pampas, protea, trailing Amaranthus, olive, eucalyptus nicholli, astilbe, setaria, pheasant feathers, nude toned roses, scabious stellata and anemones, we extended the Bohemian vibe throughout all of our designs from the simple floral tablescape, the bouquet buttonhole and hair flowers to the natural foliage arch adorned with floral highlights framing the happy couple. Our aim was to both enchant and captivate, epitomising the bohemian vibe.”
“For the styling we used earthy colours throughout to compliment the woodland. Our arch adorned in Macrame, fitted perfectly for our boho vibe. With a sweetheart trestle table using golds and creams. This romantic table for two is set with a matching flower centre piece, adding vibrancy to the table. With ruffled table linen, different sized candles and vases, adding depth. Macrame chair covers bringing the ceremony to the reception. For our guest table, we brought in more greens, with accents of gold, to tie in with the sweetheart table. We used smaller flower arrangements, keeping them low with the tall trees in the background, which framed the table. We also had a chill area for the bride and groom to spend some quiet time together and admire their cake. With candles, vases and flower arrangement, which can be taken from the ceremony and the wedding breakfast getting the most out of your decor.”
Decor – The Treasure Box
“For a couple that prefers to feel connected with nature on their special day, what better theme is there than the free-spirited bohemian. From the natural beauty of the pampas grass which blends perfectly in any outdoor setting to the bamboo furniture and decorative accessories, all of which have been sourced with consideration for the environment and our planet. I source original pieces giving you that authenticity and peace of mind that every item is sustainable and because everything is available to hire it can be used again but styled uniquely for your own very special day.”
Photography – Big Fish Photography
“The shoot was very much about the celebration of an intimate blessing. The woodland setting is rustic and still very much natural and not over groomed. I wanted the styling to feel quite free and not too staged. I love the way the table flowers are draped and hanging and not too structured and forced. The couple were quite quiet and shy so I didn’t want to over direct them and just let me naturally react to the environment. I love the Boho look and I really feel it can work for all types of brides and grooms. Over the years I have photographed a handful of outside ceremonies and I absolutely love the atmosphere that a woodland can create, it helps the couple relax and be in the moment so much more. Also with the current situation the appeal of an outside ceremony/blessing is evermore a possible option.”
Bridal – Blush Bridal Gowns
“A lot of photographers come to Blush when wanting to create a Boho vibe shoot. We are renowned for our dresses for the more free-spirited brides and we love dresses that are a bit different from the norm whilst still maintaining the essence of a modern wedding dress. The dresses we chose for this shoot have a relaxed feel which our brides tend to want as the vibe for their big day. We suggest that the bride uses true colours of nature and the season’s hues to really capture this feel. Flower crowns and a lot of foliage and natural fabrics all add to the ambiance.”
Cake – Curve Designs
“The key to achieving the Boho look, is to take your inspiration from Nature. I was inspired to create this design by looking at the rustic location of the venue. The bottom tier is a log slice and then to connect the tiers, I have used a peal of bark on the following two tiers. The dried flowers give softness and colour, complemented by the pastel colours of the dream catcher. The design is completed with a hint of gold for that dash of decadence. To create your own boho design, look at your location, what colours are seasonal for your wedding date, and add a little individually with fun toppers or accessories.”
Hair – Dawn Taylor Weddings
“I wanted waves, but not curls and incorporated a twisted braid design on one side with some gentle soft twists on the other. I still wanted this detail to be visible once the floral crown had been placed. Prep is the key with any bridal hairstyle, but particularly important if you are creating a textured, airy style that you want to stay put and last all day. I always crimp into the root area to help with volume, particularly if hair is fine, then curling using a working spray before curling and brushing through. Then using a texturising spray throughout the hair and then brushing through to create the beautiful waves. The crown area was backcombed softly using a volumising powder and then softly brushed through to remove flyaways, using a wax spray where needed to get rid of any frizziness.”
Make Up – Milly’s Beauty Room
“I wanted to achieve a soft natural look yet bring some elements of glam to this. When I think of boho woodland weddings to having a distinct soft and romantic feel that is earthy and inspired by nature and the outdoors. For base products I tried to make my models makeup look as skin like as possible, using a range of products such as, tinted BB cream to get an even skin tone and ‘Iconic London’ illuminating drops to achieve a natural looking glow. I then focused more on concealer for under the eyes, which was set with powder. Less is more of course, and if you have a natural base with slightly more concealer under your eyes as well as a little on the t-zone this will then give you the coverage you’re looking for but also makes it look natural.”
Stationery – Corlia Creations
“We specialise in acrylic signage which makes a fantastic durable keepsake from your Big day. When given the boho/woodland theme we knew that this cool sage colour would be a perfect addition to the natural surroundings. We then added a little silver leaf for that extra sparkle and it’s great for catching the light in photographs. We always say to our clients to share with us their visions and colour schemes. This helps us to provide you with several options to ensure your signage compliment your decor creating a uniformed look throughout. We love keeping up with the latest decor trends and trying new styles of signage, but most of all helping our couples create their dream day.”
Celebrant – Sylvia Brown
“Choosing an independent celebrant for your wedding will probably be the best decision you will make during your planning! There are no boundaries with a celebrant, so if you fancy pledging your love deep in woodland under the canopy of trees, yes you can! You may want to include a symbolic element to your ceremony such as hand fasting. The infinity knot is a popular choice, the celebrant will place ties over the couple’s joined hands while reading a chosen verse, once the celebrant has made the tie the couple release hands and as they do so the infinity knot is made symbolising infinite love.”
