If your looking for some country wedding inspiration and alternative bridal style, this shoot is styled to perfection with it, set in South Farm Cambridgeshire, its the perfect mix of both traditional venue and alternative wedding vibe! With gypsy caravans, and an exclusive and intimate setting it ticks all the boxes for for a country wedding feel! Here we catch up with shoot coordinator and hair designer Emma Kim who tells us all about the venue and the shoot…
Country Wedding Inspiration with Rustic Florals and a Ruffle Tiered Dress
“The shoot was for me to show a different edge to my hair styling then just everyday bridal, I wanted to create something fun and quirky. Even down to who was going to model for me. Roisin was the perfect fit!”
“I had influences from Pinterest from seeing gypsy caravans, and remembered the beautiful wedding venue South Farm! I saw a recent wedding on Love my dress where the bridesmaids all had leather jackets which made me think of adding a ‘cool’ bride look. To which I found Sammy’s Retro Emporium who makes bespoke handmade retro jackets, her work was exactly what I was looking for and for any brides looking for an edgy feel to their wedding day.”
“I am close friends with Rachel Louise Bridal, who makes bespoke bridal hair accessories. I explained my ideas for shoot and she made the hair piece exclusive for the shoot based on the top I had sauced for the model to wear.”
“Halo & Wren was where the bridal gown and separates came from its a gorgeous little bridal boutique in Hemel Hempstead, I had been following them on Instagram for a while and loved how different to the usual bridal look they were. The top is ‘Poppy’ by Willowby by Watters and the Skirt is called ‘Chicory’ by Watters Willowby. The Riki Dalal gown is called Cordelia. I absolutely adore that top!!”
“Flowers were made by Greycourt florists who are based in Kempson, Bedford. My brief was that I wanted the bouquet to be big, green and full! Again adding a quirky feel. Adding some non traditional wedding flowers like amaranthus really worked!”
“For the hair I wanted to create something up but also an undo look, Roisin’s hair is super long, all the way to her lower back, an up-do with this length of hair on your wedding day creates so much glamour and also for me as a hairdresser the more hair the better! I created something low but added a fishtail braid for more definition. Roisin hair was also lightened in places prior to shoot. This is another tip I give to any brides especially if they have decided on an updo for the day.”
Photography – Perfect Timing Photography
“I’ve worked with Perfect Timing Photography on a previous styled shoot back in the summer and they have also taken beautiful pictures of me and my son, they seemed to be keen to do something different and quirky. They are a husband and wife team based in Dunstable who are available for weddings, family portraits and newborn photography.”
“Makeup was by Makeup By Rachel, My brief to Rachel was dark, smokey but adding a very deep almost black red lip. I wanted very nontraditional to normal bridal makeup – almost goth glamour, which I think works along the theme.”
