Some calming countryside wedding inspiration on the agenda today, with the most beautiful contemporary wedding dresses, and luxury green and gold styling. Set at Applewood Hall, Banham, and making full use of it’s wonderful surroundings it is sure to give you some ideas for your big day. Here we catch up with Kiera Goymour, Wedding Planner at Applewood Hall, and the rest of the team who tell us all about how this countryside wedding was created…
“It all started with an idea to capture some of the hidden gems here at Applewood Hall, namely our beautiful 30 acre grass meadow. We really wanted to show off the Norfolk landscape and how pretty it can be. It wasn’t a very bright (or warm!) day but the moody sky added a bit of drama! We also wanted to show how the marquee-lined hall could do modern rustic – mixing geometric terrariums, elegant gold cutlery and charger plates with the more traditional rustic-style banquet tables and chairs.”
“The vision for the shoot was to create a relaxed wedding party experience full of fun and laughter, set against nature’s natural greenery with accents of gold, blush pink and dark wood.”
“Set in the Norfolk countryside, the shoot was held at Applewood Hall. It’s generous green open space (which is dog-friendly!) and beautiful marquee-lined reception space with cascading fairy lights provided a stunning backdrop for this rustic bridal shoot.”
Styling – Holly Honeywell
“Kiera’s design concept was to use a luxurious palette of rich greens and gleaming golds as a contrast to the ivory drapes of the Hall. This was enhanced by a gorgeous fairy
light installation crafted by Sam Race Venue Decoration, which created a warm glow framing the top table and dance floor.”
“Gold acrylic name places handmade by Holly Honeywell were set against rich waxy camellia leaves, complimenting the beautiful foliage table decor and geometric terrariums. These echoed the gold rimmed charger plates and cutlery which shone against the dark, rustic wood of the tables and cross-back chairs provided by The Banqueting Hire Service.”
“In the ceremony room, beautiful candlelight glassware and tea lights lined the aisles and an ethereal soft backdrop with delicate lighting framed the couple.”

I wanted to capture each supplier yet do it in my own style to give them and myself something unique. Negative space in photos speaks volumes as it can really add a sense of size and isolation, giving the photograph a focal point that draws the eye in. I love using layers, to really show off the depth of field, by using foreground objects with the focal point on the couple/model. It tells more of a story to the viewer.
When looking for a wedding photographer, make sure you love their work, and then, always meet up to work up a good rapport. My job is not only to take amazing photos but also to make sure I capture the love and laughter and moments often missed. I love the pre-wedding shoots I offer, purely because it’s the perfect opportunity to build that special rapport before the day.
Bridal – White Reflections Bridal
“Two styles were chosen by Holly Marshall from White Reflections, both from New Zealand designer, Rue de Seine. These dresses are for the not so traditional bride looking for a relaxed, playful bohemian vibe.”
“Full of intricate embroidery, the Medina gown worn by the bride is designed to capture the sunlight. Mirror lace is used all over this stunning dress; with flared sleeves and tassels it twinkles from every angle. The iconic Avril gown is an unusual nude dress which is super diverse, using it as a bridesmaid dress for the shoot it comes alive with dramatic cornelli lace and deep-v back creating a gorgeous silhouette.”
“Inspired by the open back of the Medina gown, Emily from Face ‘n’ Glitz created a statement back piece for the bride using elegant green and gold bio-degradable glitters along with and array of subtle bindi-style individual jewels from UK cruelty-free brand, Funk On.”
Florals – Flowers by Jasmine
“We really wanted to incorporate the delicate pinks of early summer blossom and dusky sunsets, so used blush pink astilbe, deep pink veronica and rose-pink hellebore with seasonal foliage including hard ruscus, eucalyptus parvifolia and delicate ferns for the bouquets. To add that touch of rustic, the bouquet stems were wrapped in a hessian band held with pearl-headed pins.”
“The groom’s buttonhole resembled a miniature version of the bridal bouquet, with the pink tones of the astilbe, veronica and hellebore complimenting the grey tweed suit.”
“Trailing ruscus was used to dress the rustic dark wood tables – keeping it simple to allow the gold of the place settings and geometric terrariums to be the focus.”
Hair and Make Up – Stephanie Alexandra and Stacie Goodwin
“To enhance both beautiful dresses, Stacie Goodwin created soft, twisted updos with loose tendrils, giving an effortless boho feel without being too structured. With flawless skin being top of the wish list for many brides, Stephanie Alexandra wanted to focus on creating a gorgeous dewy, fresh application for both the bride and her bridesmaid, using Charlotte Tilbury’s Flawless Filter Highlighting liquid for that all important natural glow.”
Cake – Bee’s Bakes
“B’s Bakes incorporated a combination of on trend semi-naked, fondant covered and textured tiers to make this elegant wedding cake really stand out. Inspired by the countryside, this four-tier sugar flower adorned wedding cake features free-hand accents of green to depict blades of grass. The gold bees and flowers on the bottom tier bring to life the idea of wild meadows and an acrylic gold topper brings it all together perfectly.”
The Details
“Incorporating the country feel, the groom sported a grafton grey three-piece tweed suit from Pure Grooms with an elegant emerald green tie. His border collie, Millie was also keen to take part!”
“An opulent sharing style feast of seasonal tarts, gourmet scotch eggs, summer berry pudding, pastel meringue kisses, strawberry pavlova and a pear & mascarpone tart was created by Applewood Hall’s in-house team, led by Dawn Seager. The ‘help yourself’ gin and tonic bar also added a bit of fun!”
