Do you want to plan a destination wedding with a difference? Many couples choose to get married abroad for the sun, sea and sand. However, if your dream is to get married somewhere other than the UK but you’re not really fussed about the hot weather then a destination winter wedding vibe could be perfect for you and your partner! This beautiful, snowy mountain wedding in the South of France is sure to give you lots of inspiration and show you just how beautiful a destination winter wedding can be. We catch up with french photographer Stephanie of Evidence Capture who shares this stunning shoot with us…
“I have been a wedding photographer for over 6 years. I like to imagine weddings or elopements close to nature. And even in total connection with nature. I really wanted to represent an elopement in the mountains of southern France. A moment of relaxation and conviviality, relaxed, intimate and quirky. Lovers that are eager to honour their love in an authentic way closer to the nature they love so much.”
“The south of France is known for the Côte d’Azur, its beaches, its sun, its Provence. However, this location, less than an hour from Nice airport, is a wonderful little chalet that provides a total and ultra-romantic location. The hinterland is less known and yet full of magnificent places in a dream setting for your wedding day. The bucolic mountain with the mild temperatures of the south is perfect for romantic couples tying the knot. What could be more cocooning than newlyweds having brunch in a beautiful chalet before getting married?”
“Contrary to popular belief, a winter wedding is very warm (despite the snowfall). In the south of France, even in winter, the temperatures are pleasant and the weather is almost always sunny. The temperatures are not too hot like in summer and this makes your day full of originality and charm. When looking for a destination winter wedding location it is essential to find a place where the two of you as a couple connect too. Somewhere that corresponds to your personality and your dream wedding vision. This chalet was just perfect for what we had in mind.”
“For the styling, it made sense to compose this around the couple’s personality, and this is exactly what you should do for your own wedding day. The place, the accessories, the dress… start from detail and stay faithful to it to create consistency in style. Choosing a photographer with whom you have the same values is key. They need to understand you and your vision perfectly. The dress for a destination winter wedding should be warm enough for the season and I like to see it connect with nature somehow. Accessories are essential to bringing the final touch to the outfit of the bride. Jewellery, made of natural materials and can be kept for life is a beautiful touch”
“Getting married in winter has many advantages. The sun is mild and in the south of France, the light is always warm. Organizing snowball fights as activities or snowman competitions can be original and fun for the guests. Our newlyweds (and us) had a great time on this shoot!”
