Remember that there are no rules for your wedding day – it’s about the two of you and how you want to do it. So, if an intimate morning wedding with a yummy breakfast is your thing, keep your eyes peeled. We catch up with coordinator and stylist Justin Straw Designs and his team who created this woodland elopement at Black Hills Receptions, USA. It’s full of beautiful and unique ideas for your own wedding day…
Inspiration
“I loved the idea of a beautiful light and bright sunrise elopement full of all sorts of beautiful breakfast details. We wanted an intimate location in The Black Hills. A place where our couple could cuddle up and enjoy the sunrise and brunch. Taking your traditional wedding day and turning it on its head is the way to do it if you want to create a beautifully unique wedding day. Host a beautiful sunrise ceremony using nature as your backdrop and move straight to your reception, serving a beautiful brunch with some really fun cocktails… what’s more romantic than that!”
The Bride
“The sunrise was our inspiration for the whole of the shoot so adding it into the bridal look was a given. We knew we could get away with a touch of color for our dress but wanted something both timeless and classic too. We chose a soft pastel-coloured dress and added more dramatic colours through the bouquet. For the hair and makeup, we wanted full glam for a beautiful look. The side part weaved hair was big and bold and we kept it soft with beautiful pops of colour on her lips and blush on her cheeks.”

The Details
“For the styling, we wanted the look to compliment the beautiful sunrise. We used sunrise colour linen with bold pops of color that worked perfectly against the natural and rustic backdrop. For the flowers, I loved the idea of using soft tones but adding a bit of drama with brighter citrus tones. The cake was an amazing element to this big day! We knew we wanted something fun and unique to match the wedding brunch. Our pastry artist suggested a cake cover in traditional breakfast delights, the waffles, fresh fruit and flowers were the perfect finishing touch.”
