We LOVE a Christmas wedding; there is something so romantic about this time of year anyway so adding in festive nuptials makes it even more loving. Today’s styled wedding shoot features everything you expect; Christmas trees, baubles, red and silver, and oodles of that festive romance. We catch up with Justin Straw, who is the planner, florist and stylist here to find out more about his Christmas wedding vision.
“Every year we do an amazing styled shoot inspired by the Holiday Season. We love all the warmth, love, and romance that Christmas brings. We love the idea of showing couples how to incorporate such a magical time of year into their wedding day.”
The Venue
“For this Christmas wedding we wanted someplace that felt inviting, classic, and clean. I loved the idea of using a venue with white walls so all of our greenery would really pop.”
The Styling
“Don’t be afraid to fully commit to your wedding inspiration. If Christmas is your inspiration, then go big. Bring in multiple trees, use all the string lights, and incorporate all the details that make Christmas magical.”
The Photography
Photography is one of the most important details of your wedding day. When talking with my couples about their photographer, I always remind them that trendy colors, posing, and lighting is not a good reason to hire a photographer. You want to look back on your photos twenty years later and feel like they are still beautiful and relevant that day, trends come and go.”
The Dress
For this Christmas wedding, we loved the idea of our bride in a full skirt and sleeves. When our bride tried on this beautiful AW Bridal dress we knew it was the one! The lace details and chiffon skirt gave us that perfect Holiday combination.”
Hair and Makeup
Don’t be afraid to make a statement with your hair and makeup on your wedding day. Look at what your overall aesthetic is for your wedding and incorporate that into your glam. If you are using a pop of red maybe a red lip could be the perfect addition to your makeup.”
The Flowers
“A big install can add so much drama. Imagine your guest dining under a beautiful archway of flowers. If you have a smaller wedding a big install will fill the space and make your reception feel more intimate.”
The Cake
“Your cake can be a beautiful detail for your wedding day. Be bold, make a statement with your cake. You’re hiring your baker because they are amazing. Talk to them about how to create something really personal and make it your dream cake.”
The Stationery
:Your stationary sets the whole tone for your wedding day. Wow your guest from the minute the open their invitation to their beautiful menu card at their place setting. Stationary is the perfect way to customise all of those personal details.”
How can a couple turn this theme and ideas into reality?
“Talk to your vendors, show them inspiration photos, use colours and textures that invoke the feeling of The Holidays. Use details such as evergreens in your floral design. Think of things that bring you joy around the holidays and incorporate them into your big day. We loved the idea of warm glass of hot chocolate and a slice of wedding cake.”
