The 1920’s had a lot to give in the terms of fashion freedom and everything else that came with it – freedom which was very different to the freedom we have today, but still never the less dramatic and life changing of the time! Sara Beaumont’s interpretation of celebrating a world where love has no labels leads us to this beautiful styled shoot with a navy wedding cake, tweed suits and a celebration of the 21st Century.
Here we catch up with her to get the details on how her, and hair and make up artist Rebecca Haines, collaborated to produce such empowering and modern day imagery…
“I love to create, and a styled shoot gives me the perfect excuse. My Inspiration was the 1920’s. A decade of change; especially for women. They gained more confidence and independence which was reflected in the new fashions. It was the start of an era with new found freedom. Fast forward 90+ years and this freedom now sees the end of distinguishing roles for the sexes. Equality, opportunity and neutrality of identity is breaking down barriers and sparking creativity.”
“This was my inspiration and I knew exactly who to ask along for the ride. Joining forces and sharing a huge pot of ideas; Rebecca Haines became fellow stylist. Our models, discovered by Rebecca, are identical twins Ellie & Anna who added an extra edge to the photoshoot.”
“We chose The Wood Norton as our venue due to it’s dark wood panelling and original period features that created a moody backdrop for our photoshoot. Built by Duc D’Orleans in 1897, it’s decorative 19th Century interiors were perfect.”
“Our colour palette was raspberry, blush and midnight blue which were accentuated by the dark wood panelling and contrasting window light. Hair and make up by Rebecca Haines perfectly styled our models to express the elegance of the 1920’s with soft, sophisticated looks. The looks became more powerful look as we worked our way through the wardrobe changes.”
“Pandora’s Prom provided us with beautiful beaded gowns reminiscent of the era. Hair and makeup were given a sharp edge for an Evening wear look. Our designer Wedding gowns from Ivory & Co had the 1920’s in mind with stunning silk styles and a chic tea length gown. They perfectly complimented the style of the shoot. We matched each gown with hair vines ‘Serenity’ and ‘Venus’ along with the sublime ‘Lana’ hair slide from Ivory & Co Tiaras.”
“The oversized bouquet created by Jenny Fleur was full of trailing ferns; punctuated by orchids which added an exotic element and glamour. Orchids also became the focal flower
in the buttonhole and wrist corsages along with guinea fowl feathers.”
“Elegant Bakes by Elizabeth created cakes inspired by the opulence of the 1920’s. Chic designs with a modern twist; they were complimented by stylish, hand crafted sugar flowers, ribbons and feathers. The copper hoops added a contemporary touch.”
“Our models received a personalised fitting service from Country Master Gentlemans Outfitters with three piece tweed suits, silk bow ties and a feather boutonnière.We think that our models totally rocked this look!”
