A beautiful yet rustic setting hosts todays styled shoot. With opulent purple wedding inspiration for the modern and stylish bride and groom. A intimate find in London, Paradise by Way of Kensal Green provides the perfect backdrop of rustic opulence to host your big day. Here we catch up with creative director Keenda Sisouphanh from Events by Keenda who co-ordinated the shoot to create Fruits of Love – opulent purple wedding inspiration in Paradise by Way…
“Events by Keenda creates unique and unforgettable intimate weddings and events
for stylish,career-driven creatives around the world. Our vision is romantic weddings with a quirky twist injecting the personalities of our individual couples into their big day. Our mission
is to create intimate design-led weddings for stylish couples, where ordinary isn’t an option!”
“Paradise by Way of Kensal Green is on my list of Top 10 London intimate venues list that I love! I had been to an engagement party here before and was just drawn to its shabby chic to boudoir vibes. The décor is unique and just stands out with an eclectic mix of boho and vintage textures, patterns and striking colour palette. As it is licensed for a ceremony, it made it the perfect place to showcase how you could have your intimate wedding nuptials and reception at this decadent and stylish venue. Very fitting for creative and style-savvy couple!”
“The shoot’s concept was inspired by the fruit of love; the pomegranate. I wanted a boho luxe vibe creating an ethereal world with a diversified selection of modern elements and authentic bohemian style. My idea was born as a consequent of the ruby like resemblance of the pomegranate seed. History shows that the pomegranate’s early relationship to romance derives from the belief that the first pomegranate tree was planted by Aphrodite, the goddess of love. The pomegranate is the passion fruit, also called the fruit of love.”
Styling
“The venue already very rich in colour and décor, I wanted to embrace that and work with the canvas complimenting it with a deep colour palette consisting of navy, purple, gold, burgundy, dusky pink and black. This definitely worked in harmony with the stunning blue walls to give a plush and vibrant feel.”
Daniela from Classic Crockery: “The ornate changer plates, the blue tableware and the coloured glassware are perfect to compliment the rich red pomegranate, blues and exposed walls of the venue and dark and deep tones of the beautiful floral arrangements.”
Jacquie the stationer from white olive designs: “The menu and place cards were hand dyed cotton rag paper specifically dyed for the shoot colour palette. We opted for hand written gold calligraphy for elegance and the clear acrylic sign with white ink for a modern twist.
Both vintage and modern items were juxtaposed on the dining table and placed on a bright purple runner to make it all pop. The distinctive features such as the hanging lanterns, rustic mirrors and fire place added texture and really encompassed the boho vibe.”
Photography
“We wanted the aesthetics to promote a fun, romantic and stylish wedding. Sophie Lake
Photography captured the details beautifully to tell the story of love. The quality is almost film like and captures the characters of the bride and groom as well as the distinct characteristics of all the rooms. We adopted a documentary wedding style of photography to reflect on my trademark of capturing all the feels and love the moment.”
Florals
“The flowers selected for their rich tones and textures to create a rustic and boho feel. The bouquet is particularly stunning with an unstructured wild look with a gold pomegranate as
a nod to the Fruit of Love theme. All the floral arrangements were designed with simplicity
but made to have a big impact. We also had the feature mantle piece florals with fresh cut opened pomegranates for authenticity. The florals used on the table were kept very simple
and minimal with mainly foliage and succulents used at one level to avoid any more busyness.”
“Flowers used in the shoot included; Ami Visnaga, Astilbe, Astrantia, Chrysanthemum blooms, Molucella, Dolcetto roses, Purple Veronica‘, Captain Promise’- calla lily
Mixed succulents foliage used: Asparagus fern, Eucalyptus, Pistacia, Senecio
Cake
“The colour palette was a strong source of inspiration as was creating different textures into the tiers of the cake. For the minis, Katie from Malarkey Cakes was very creative and made actual pomegranate shaped truffles sprayed in gold. The décor to compliment the cake table again is kept mellow to let the desserts take centre stage on these gorgeous modern cake stands. For texture there is foliage, roses and different surfaced candle holders as well as a sliced open pomegranate. The jewelled like through is stunning and bright in the centre of the table drawing your attention to the main cake.”
The Dress and Accessories
“I love the boho vibes and both the chosen wedding gowns are great choices for the modern boho bride. Dress number one is by haute couture bridal designer Riki Dalal from the ‘Noya’ Shakespeare Collection. The romantic Cordelia dress is luxurious lace with intricate beading embellishment. A simply beautiful feminine gown but with a bit of edge. Especially paired well with the bespoke ‘Wifey’ hand painted calligraphy jacket produced by Michelle from Scritto. A gorgeous statement outfit for the style savvy and unique bride.”
“The evening wedding dress by Galatea from Willowby by Watters La Luna Collection is
a bit more fun and floaty; perfect for twirling on the dance floor and those flirty moments.”
“The shoes from Love Art Wear Art are for the creative bride and both the pairs we chose had ample of personality but not too overstated. To complete the look we added luxury bridal accessories handcrafted with love from eden b.Studio.”
Hair and Make Up
Our hair and makeup artist, Storme enhanced the bride’s natural beauty creating two gorgeous looks which were completely unfussy for the free spirited bride but yet stunningly seductive.”
Makeup artist from Storme: “We were inspired by the beautiful colour of the fruit. Nice and fresh makeup was done with a pop of gorgeous luxurious maroon, purple lips. Eyes were enhanced but not the focus as the lip colour made the look. Hair was first done soft and flowy with a loose curl, an d then a romantically swept up-do to mirror the mood of the scene and beautiful dresses.”
“For the hair down look, the bride wore the Thalia crown. The full head hair vine was a stunning silver piece of delicate leaves which sat perfectly on the bride’s head enhancing her beauty, grace and style. For the up do we had the Lena hair vines creating a stunning effortless look for our bride with some loose bits left out and gently curled for that pretty finishing.”
