Outdoor Winter Wedding Inspiration with Turquoise and Gold Touches
Styling – Justin Straw Designs
Inspiration for this fabulous look all stemmed from the amazing hot drink dispenser I found. I could just see a bride drinking a fabulous cup of cocoa out of a beautiful cup in an amazing dress. I loved the idea of a snow filled forest with a hot cocoa bar nestled in between the tree. What goes amazing with cocoa? Doughnuts!! Doughnuts stacked and frosted with flowers up the sides were the perfect addition. The color palette and style of this look are inspired my teacup collection. Incorporating all the colors and floral prints throughout the decor was a must. I love how colors added to the light and airy feel of the shoot. I also wanted to incorporate a darker color for contrast and interest. The invitation suite was the perfect place to incorporate a darker hue.
Stationery – Jordynn Marie Designs
When designing save-the-dates and invitations for an event, such as a wedding, you are instantly setting the tone for the theme of the event. You wouldn’t have a save the date with orange and purple flowers and feathers and then follow up with an invitation that was blush pink, gold and lace with pearls. They don’t compliment each other, and overall, they confuse your guests. You want both the save the date, invitations, rsvp cards and all other stationery to correspond to the theme of your wedding. The inspiration behind that stationary for the hot chocolate photoshoot Justin Straw Designs put together came from accenting the colors of the bride’s flowers, cake and wintry wedding theme. The white complemented the snowy blanket on the ground, the blue was a great contrast against the winter white and the font matched the flow of the whimsical feel of the floral on the cake.
Florals – Victoria’s Garden
When teaming up with Justin and his talented crew, we set out to translate his vision of this winter wedding into our fresh florals. We wanted to turn up the feel of this winter wedding while creating our own palette by playing off of the colors and feel the wedding. Our goal was to maintain a cozy, quaint and romantic feel while adding a modern and elegant twist. With this great team, we accomplished just that!
Hair and Make up – Heather Rupp Beauty
The inspiration for hair and makeup was inspired by the dress. I knew the moment I saw it, it was like it was out of a fairytale. I wanted the hair to be modern with long flowing locks. Touches of greenery in the hair to help tie in our woodsy location. For the makeup I wanted the eyes to be glam with big lashes to go with the princess dress. Last but not least, blushing glowing skin to complete this whimsical look.
Jewellery – Dana Voorhees
It’s always a pleasure working with Justin from Justin Straw Designs. When Justin sent me the picture of this model wearing the beautiful dress and cape-I instantly thought of my Tahitian pearl necklace! Especially since her eyes matched the pearls perfectly! I knew that one of a kind necklace would be an exceptional complement! Justin has a great eye for details and he inspires me with his style and techniques.

The Black Hills are a photographers dream location and what better than to have a hot cocoa bar at your winter wedding! My style for the shoot was fun and romantic while capturing all of the vintage details in a modern way. The brides glowing make-up and romantic curls matched perfectly with the flowing blush pink tulle dress, the elegant floral hairpiece and the cathedral length veil. . It was easy to capture stunning portraits of our model Heather surrounded by the woodland beauty of the snow covered woodlands of the Black Hills. All of the small details of this shoot, from the vintage tea cups for the cocoa to the handmade jewelry, helped to make this modern vintage inspiration to life.
Bridal – Bridal Boutique and Bling Prom
Justin came to us with the idea of this whimsical winter wedding inspiration shoot. After hearing all of his ideas I knew a blush dress would be a great addition. We pulled a romantic ball gown by Maggie Sottero and the finishing touch to this amazing look would be the feather cape.
