Vintage at its best today in this Peaky Blinders inspired wedding shoot which is full of intricate and eclectic details. Set at Plum Park Hotel, Northamptonshire it has a dark and dreamy colour scheme mixed with opulent golds to give it a true vintage vibe. Two D Photography and Emerald Orchid Weddings created the shoot with a view to inspire couples on how to create a themed wedding in style. With a masculine edge mixed with a glam 1920’s art deco theme, it has lots of details to inspire you if you’re planning a vintage or themed wedding…
Inspiration
“We’re fans of Peaky Blinders, but we also wanted to play around with a more masculine style of shooting. With tweed suits, deep dark colours, brass, English florals and lots of whiskeys you can definitely turn this inspiration into reality for your own wedding day. Plum Park is a beautiful traditional old manor house with dark wood, so lent itself to the theme well and truly! To achieve the look, we used opulent gold, black and whites with deep colours. For the table, we chose gold cutlery, gold-rimmed glasses and grand candle holders with vintage whiskey glasses and brass everywhere, keeping it modern with coloured ribbons and fans! The stationery was 1920s themed and art deco matching the cake perfectly and the flowers were a mix of traditional English, loose florals. The dress and shoes were also a nod to the era with tweed, beautiful fabrics and the bridal dress is a definite nod to flappers!”
Top Wedding Planning Tips…
Photography; “Make sure you like their style and that it is timeless, and make sure you get on with your photographers! They’re going to be there with you all day so you want to feel comfortable around them to get those natural shots, for sure.”
The Dress; “Try on the styles you wouldn’t even think about. Be open to suggestions from the bridal store, and try on as many different styles as you can!”
Flowers; “Choose a florist whose style you absolutely love, and don’t be afraid to give them creative reign.”
Cake; “Go mad, don’t feel like you have to stick to tradition. Here is a chance to show your personality through the decorations you pick, or alternatives! We’ve photographed crepes, cheese towers and macarons in place of cakes – you can’t go wrong really.”
Hair and Makeup; “Don’t rely on Pinterest too much here – makeup is subjective to an individual’s face shape and colouring, and what looks good on one person might not be the best thing for you! A good make-up artist will know how to complement your features perfectly, so a trial will highlight that for you.”
Stationery; “Stationery really sets the tone for your wedding style, so don’t be afraid to go mad!”
