Grecian wedding vibes on today’s inspiration shoot set at The Orangery, Kent. Both romantic and elegant it takes a modern twist on a traditional Greek style wedding and has beautiful details galore. Created by H and Andy of Lawley Fine Jewellers and their selected team it laid back luxe with crisp white and sage green styling. Titled ‘Hera’s Utopia’ we catch up with the team to here all about how it was created…
Inspiration
“Inspired by H’s love of Greece and Greek mythology, we’ve been itching to create a romantic, elegant shoot with a modern twist on traditional Greek-style wedding. Hera was the Greek Goddess of marriage, so we just had to honour her by naming the shoot after her. The word Utopia, also Greek, means ‘an imagined place or state of things in which everything is perfect’…The Orangery in Maidstone is ‘Utopia’ to perfection! With a beautiful colour palette of soft sage and olive greens, mixed with accents of gold, white and natural tones are the perfect base for the Grecian vibe. Think olive and laurel leaves, a white draping and flowing column-style gown and a table full of delicious Greek delicacies”
Venue
“The Orangery is an enchanting waterside venue with its own private lake and tumbling waterfall. With stunning, vast landscaped gardens, there is a choice of three ceremony areas, including the breathtaking mirrored Garden Room. It is an incredibly versatile venue…there really is something for everyone and some amazing photo opportunities throughout the grounds.”
Styling
Stylist – Lawley Fine Jewellers
“To get the look for your own wedding think beautiful soft crown braids with gold leaf hair accessories. A light and draping, bespoke flowing white gown with a pale gold belt and lace capelet, really brings out that inner Goddess! Delicate gold jewellery, like these handmade 22ct olive drop earrings, adds richness and luxury to the overall look. A heel with ribbon ties adds a touch of elegance. A bespoke, muted gold toga style waistcoat and ruffle shirt unleash the Adonis in a Groom; complete with pale sage trousers.”
Photography
Photographer – Wild Meadow Photography
“I wanted to bring an element of fun, as well as grace to the shoot. Molly’s photography is full of rich tones; perfect to bring out the rich and muted shades in the colour palette. With such vast gardens and grounds, we wanted to make the most of the landscaped gardens and lake – Molly is happiest outside in all weathers so a little rain just added more photo opportunities at the end of the shoot; the romantic umbrella shot!”
The Bride
The Dress – With Love and Lace Bridal
“Greek-style column dresses don’t need to be shapeless. Taking inspiration from old statues, the focus is on draping; layers of white chiffon fabric are so elegant and understated. Teamed with a detachable pale gold lace belt to add shape and a halter neck so you look every bit like the Greek Goddess.”
Hair and Makeup – Versastyle by Laura and Amy Charlotte Makeup Artist
“Amy created a natural look on Chloé, with a touch of gold on the eyes and a soft pink lip. Laura styled Chloé’s hair in a beautiful dutch crown braid, with a few loose tendrils and finished with handmade gold leaf accessories”
The Details
Flowers – Bryony Mae Flowers
“We mixed stunning foliage with lots of traditional olive leaves and crisp white roses, along with a dash of blush pink to add a romantic touch of colour. A pale gold ribbon finished the bouquet off beautifully”
Cake – The Artisan Cake Kitchen
“Claire designed a stunning 3 tiered textured white cake, full white flower detailing. Her white sugar flowers were crafted to perfection and a hint of gold wire decoration completed the showstopper of a cake.”
Stationery – Paperleaf Studios
“Deb designed a unique, handwritten invite on clear acrylic complete with hand-drawn olives and leaves. Place names mimicked the invites and provided a beautiful keepsake for guests. Her green envelopes were also handwritten for that extra personal touch”
“The finishing touches, from the handmade greek-style lollies and the flower resin initials, made a lovely addition to the styling. The table was styled beautifully with gold, pale green and white accents; elegant tapered candles, pale gold cutlery and olive leaf wine goblets. The sweet cart was adorned with delicious Greek treats for guests to enjoy; from baklava to pistachio Halva and traditionally greek white and gold Jordan almonds. Our celebrant Natalie was on hand to read a personal written ceremony and offer the bespoke vine-style wedding bands for our models to exchange”
