The dark and dreamy side of the Secret Garden with todays styled shoot, set at The Glass House, Secret Garden, Kent, it has contemporary styling, modern bridalwear and gothic touches. We here from shoot coordinator Natasha of Natasha Spencer Weddings & Events and some of the team involved who tell us how this beautiful wedding inspiration was created…
“One of my favourite things is to do a styled shoot, I love the opportunity to push creative boundaries. The inspiration came from a lovely little parcel in the post from Nats Paper Studio with this amazing stationery suite that we featured. I loved the clematis and the romantic nature of the florals but the solid lines of the script gave it a modern and fresh look. I felt it had a soft but rock style that I took on and ran with using a mix of chalky blacks, dark greens, soft purples and pinks.”
“The Green House at The Secret Garden in Kent was that perfect blend of soft chic and edgy rawness, ideal for the backdrop. The space is small, intimate and full of character.”

Styling – Natasha Spencer Events
“I hunted for a team who created bold statements that suited the style, we were lucky enough to have a piece from Story of My Dress’s new bridal collection. A beautiful layered lace gown that really pulled the dark and sultry bridal style together. Eden B provided some stunning hair pieces to match, made from delicate porcelain and beading that stood proud against the brides dark hair. We kept the colour pallet simple and contrasting, the darker shades created the depth and edge I envisioned whilst the lighter colours softened. something I find key is to balance the blend of colours to give a round and finished look.”

“I love to collaborate with other suppliers with the same vision as myself, My images are moody and rich in colour so I wanted to work on a shoot that would allow my style to do this. The glass house is an intimate and unique venue and feels like you are in your own little wonderland. You can dress the venue up to your required taste. Doing these shoots help inspire bride and grooms to push their own vision. I was contacted by a bride that had seen the images and was so inspired by it she incorporated the theme into her own day. That’s what these styled shoots are all about.”
Flowers – See Rose Floral Design
“When creating designs for styled shoots, I tend to create on the fly with the brief and styling in mind. Natasha had sent a sample of the stationery which featured one of my favourite’s clematis, this was my starting point when choosing flowers to compliment. I chose dark moody colours and dark foliage but softened the overall look with muted shades of pink with the classic roses and carnations. I loved the contrast of this shoot, there was an edge to the edit with a touch of softness.”
Hair – Hero Hair Stylist
“I wanted to create a different shape, as opposed to a low up do that we see so much of. We used clip in extensions and took inspiration from Frieda Kahlo’s iconic head of hair to create a Gothic look. Two bunches were formed up high on the head and then intertwined with each other to give height and lift from the front. We kept the models thick dark fringe in place but took out quite a lot of hair at the sides to keep it super undone. The second look was a textured messy ponytail, keeping it a modern and fresh look, again using the extensions. However to add some detail and interest I used an infinity braid to hold the whole ponytail together. Finished with Eden B Studio’s beautiful accessories which really stood out against the models dark hair.”
Props – Village Vintage
“Village Vintage have a great collection of pieces that lend themselves to many different styles. This beautiful velvet, moss green, vintage sofa worked perfectly for the mood and tone of the shoot. The various crates and boxes, as well as the bottles used for candles, added to final look and created great atmosphere.”
