We all love a bit of Disney; it’s fairytale magic at it’s best and this whimsical romantic wedding inspiration at The Old Milking Parlour at Cavokay House, in Somerset definitely has all the fairytale vibes. With a beautiful outdoor setting, it’s perfect if you’re planning spring-summer nuptials. The team, led by Leanna Elizabeth Weddings, wanted to create a real-life fairytale day, full of inspiration for your own wedding. We catch up with her and the team to find out all about it…
Inspiration
“I have a passion for whimsical and romantic styling, and I wanted to create something which resembled a real-life fairy-tale. I took inspiration from the Disney classic, Bambi when coming up with a concept for the shoot. I was instantly drawn to the idyllic woodland setting and references to nature. I knew it would be the perfect story to centre the shoot around. I think it can help to have a clear concept in mind when making decisions about the day – from what stationery to have to the design of the cake. Having a clear vision helps to ensure a cohesive look and feel on the day. With that being said, try not to get too caught up on themes per se, as it can confine your choices and can cause things to look a little too ‘matchy’. Instead, take inspiration from it and use it as a guide when making choices about your wedding.”

“The Old Milking Parlour features acres of stunning meadows and woodland, so it served as the perfect backdrop for this particular concept. A more rustic wedding venue, the Old Milking Parlour is the perfect venue for couples dreaming of a rustic, barn-style wedding with plenty of outdoor space.”
Styling
Stylist – Leanna Elizabeth Weddings
“The overall concept was feminine and whimsical with an elegant-luxe feel. Pastel shades of pink, green and ivory were used to form a soft, delicate palette perfect for a spring or summer wedding. Gold accents worked perfectly with the palette, giving it that high-end luxury feel. In a nod to the Bambi concept, this detail-oriented design featured faux antler place holders, vintage style babycham glasses and even a vintage metal crown.”
Photography
Photographer – Jennifer Jane Photography
“Keeping in line with the soft, light and airy vibe, the photography style played a large part in creating the right type of images to accurately convey the message of the shoot. Jennifer Jane Photography’s light-filled photography style was perfect for this shoot, capturing all of those romantic, heartfelt looks between the bride and groom as well as the all-important details.”
Bride and Groom
Bridal – Carina Baverstock Couture
“We wanted to echo the innocence found within the classic tale whilst also creating a fairy-tale vibe, so we used a combination of soft chiffon and traditional satin to convey this image in the bridal styling. No fairy-tale bride would be complete without a beautiful tiara and jewels, so these details were the perfect finishing touch to the bridal look.”
Hair and Makeup – Becky Flynn
“Keen to hold onto the youthful and graceful look, the bride’s makeup was dewy and natural, with warm and rosy tones used for the eyes and cheeks. The bride’s hair was tied was loose with a soft wave which looked beautiful dressed in both a stunning tiara and hair vine.”
Groomswear – Wedding Time Dorchester
“The groom wore a tweed brown/grey suit with a wooden bow tie, looking every inch the prince of the forest.”
The Details
Flowers – Flourish and Grace
“Opulent flower displays boasted blowsy garden roses in soft pink and peach hues and ivory peonies and lisianthus. The floral archway was a true showstopper featuring an abundance of fresh blooms as well as green foliage, tying in beautifully with the woodland backdrop. The bridal bouquet was tied with a beautiful silk ribbon in ivory which danced gracefully in the gentle summer breeze.”
Cake – Little Buttercup Cakery
“The cake was truly magnificent, featuring three tiers, each with carefully considered details giving a nod to the Bambi concept. The finish of the icing echoed the natural textures of the woodland and the top tier tied everything in beautifully with faux sugar antlers and flowers to match the floral arrangements.”
Stationery – The Silken Press
“Gold edged, raw edge paper was used for the entire stationery suite and featured a bespoke, watercolour drawing of a deer as well as pastel flowers. The soft calligraphy writing tied in beautifully with the classic, fairy-tale feel of the shoot.”
