Calm Those Nerves

A lot of our couples book us because of our informal style, and a part of that is their nervousness around having their photos taken. Generally, memories of formal photography takes us all back to awkward school, prom photos, or your granddad begging you to stay still whilst he gets a steady photo. What we produce is nothing of that calibre and is a lot more natural. We can say that and reassure you ‘til the cows come home, and show examples, but to really believe that we get these photos by ‘just having a laugh,’ it’s a good idea to remove those nerves from your wedding day and find out beforehand what the experience is like. Chances are, you’ll feel a lot more relaxed about it all afterwards – we want our couples to be excited about it!

Get To Know Your Photographer, And They Can Get To Know You.

Your photographer will spend a lot of time with you on your wedding day! It’s important to book someone you know you’ll get on with, otherwise it’ll show in your photos. Now, I’m sure you wouldn’t book someone without knowing this, but a pre-wedding shoot will solidify your confidence and you’ll already know what to expect when they turn up on your wedding day, because you’re already buddies!

Photos Galore

All that aside, at the end of the shoot you’ll have a lovely set of images to remind you of such an exciting time, and to print and use! We usually suggest that the pre-wedding shoot is carried out in a different season to the one you’re getting married in, just for an entirely different setting and light. Some of our couples use their images to create a signing frame as an alternative guest book, to decorate the venue, or as part of their invites/save the dates. One of my personal favourites was one couple who used different images of their crazy Labrador as table names – their guests loved going round and laughing at all of them!

Its Just A Nice Experience

I’m not entirely sure how to put this, but we got married 4 years ago now, and we had a pre-wedding shoot. I wouldn’t say we’re big of public displays of affection, but for our pre-wedding shoot we rented a long boat and got really cosy – we kissed, cuddled, had a laugh and snorted! All in front of someone! That someone being our photographer, and it actually felt really nice. Amidst all of that wedding planning stress, alongside everything else that goes on in busy day to day life, (we were also buying a house and working our butts off) it was really lovely to take some time out and be a really mushy, newly engaged couple.
