2021 promises to see weddings back with force, with so many couples waiting to tie the knot, it’s hoping to be a truly special year! 2020 has definitely shaped 2021 wedding styling trends, with couples wanting more relaxed, intimate weddings and of course copious amounts of fun, to make up for all the parties we’ve missed! We catch up with Wedding Planner and Stylist Beth of Miss Carlysle and Co today to find out all about the trends for the year ahead…
Pastels
Pastels portray romance and it’s all about the pinks and blues for 2021; think dreamy shades with barely there tones. They’re perfect for an outdoor summer wedding, which we’re hoping there will be plenty of in the new year!
Beth says; “”2021 is going to be a year filled with wedding celebrations all around the world, from couples who have postponed through to newly engaged couples. The weddings are going to be filled with happiness and love, with more weddings happening than ever before. Outdoor weddings will be a plenty, the benefits of more space will bring a more relaxed feel to the day, both the natural scenery and natural lighting will bring colour and romance to your wedding day”

Festival Brights With Autumnal Tones
If you’re not one for muted tones and want some more drama, festival brights, mixed with deep autumnal tones is perfect for you. Go overboard on the brights for a spring/summer wedding and add pops of colour to autumnal tones for an autumn/winter wedding. With 2021 looking to be the year of weddings, party festival vibes will be a plenty, everyone will be ready for a big party with lots of fun vibes, and what better way to celebrate than with a festival wedding.

Relaxed and Informal
Relaxed and informal is definitely a front runner for 2021 wedding styling trends, we’ve come to realise even more so now, the importance of having family and friends around us, so this will no doubt be the most important thing for many couples getting married. A relaxed and informal vibe means, less stress, less structure and time to spend the day with your loved ones… this doesn’t mean you should be less creative or omit the wow factor though!
Beth says; “Table styling is becoming more of a statement at weddings now, as couples work with a stylist it allows for them to be more creative and bring more statement tables to life. Adding different coloured glasses and cutlery, as well as having chargers to add more of a formal yet relaxed feel to the table. Love letters rather than a full set of stationery, will keep it more simplistic and minimalistic. Limiting the amount of stationery, limits the wastage of stationery and is more eco friendly too”

Intimate and Romantic
Some couples may choose a more intimate and romantic vibe for their big day or even an elopement! We’ll see mismatched styling and romantic ceremony spaces. Weddings will become much more personalised, and couples won’t be afraid to do something that suits them and represents their personality, something which is definitely a big plus in our book!
Beth says; “With the potential chance of having a less number of guests at your wedding, means that you can play around with different chairs for your ceremony set up. It will give your wedding that personal feel and will allow you to stand out from the crowd. Elopements will be popular, and their are so many benefits from this choice of wedding. they are more simple, minimalistic and intimate which oozes a true romantic feel. Elopements are smaller and more budget friendly and you will ultimately spend less time and planning, avoiding the stress and drama that comes with trying to organise everything for your wedding day. It really will truly just be about the two of you”

Lounge Areas
With intimate relaxed weddings on the rise in 2021 there will be more time to sit and ‘chill out’ with your guests so a stylish lounge area where people can relax is a must! it can be as grand and formal or as relaxed and laid back as you wish, depending on the theme of your day!
Beth says; “This is more of a statement where if you decide to have a disco in the evening of your wedding, then other guests who prefer to socialise can have a lounge area where they can spend time chatting to other guests in a separate room / area.”

Statement Florals
Flowers, flowers and more flowers! Go big or go home with this statement floral trend, which will hit weddings in 2021… we love! Think copious amounts of flowers for centerpieces, big wild and free bouquets and of course a flower crown or too for that festival/boho themed wedding!

Tea Party Vibes
With relaxed vibes and intimate settings, formal wedding breakfasts may not be required, tea party vibes will bring less formality and make it easier to mingle more with guests, we love the idea of a vintage tea party wedding, and in some respects it’s also a more ethical choice, which always gets our vote!
Beth says; “Couples are starting to reconsider their guest lists, meaning that they need to consider aspects such as how to minimise the cake to decrease any waste. This is where the single tiered cake / tea party with cupcakes comes in, the cupcakes are already in portions and having a single tiered cake means that there won’t be any waste.”
